Ex-Spurs Player Davinson Sanchez

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

According to the figures quoted in the Spanish paper (As) and the Google currency converter, Ajax want £42 million, we wont go above £32 million

On a transfer like this the thing to do is have a lot of performance related add-ons. He's a kid. He maybe won't reach his potential. He maybe won't adapt to the league. The idea of £42M at this stage is pure madness. £32M is a massive gamble in itself, it'd be Ajax's biggest sell ever wouldn't it?

Shaw cost £30m and was English. Not sure why this guy is worth £12m+ more than that. And yes, I get it, the market is nuts, but let's not act like £32m is not a strong offer here.

This I gonna last until deadline day...and we will get him for £34m.

Among Ajax fans the general consensus is that anything below 50m is too low. Overmars, the TD, is under some mild pressure.

-we dont need the money; we have 150m (give or take) in cash. That is huge given a <100m annual turnover
- he has 4y left on his contract
- we dont want to sell him

Ajax has this weird situation where they cant seem to spend money. Players in the 15-25m range dont want to play in the Eredivisie. We have a salary cap of 1m (will pbb go up to 1.5m or something like that)

We cant pay a new player 1.5m unless he is a known star (like wesley sneijder).. but they dont want to come.. Otherwise the likes of Ziyech, Dolberg etc. will rightfully demand the same wage. That is not viable in the long run. Blabla... we dont need the money.

Re Sanchez. He is good. Very good. He still makes mistakes though. Also useless in possesion. He will eat strikers though. Make headers. Good presence. I give him 50/50 to make it all the way to the top.

My bet is that Overmars will stall and pray for a betting war

It's a shame how stunted Ajax have been since the 'dream team' of the 90's with Davids, Kluivert etc.

Last season they looked to be getting back to being a team to be avoided in Europe, but they've gone the way of Monaco this summer.

That being said, it's just a case of having the scouting network to keep replacing players (like Southampton have done for years)

So we're getting cocked blocked by a fucking gooner then !

Dunno if anyone else feels the same but I couldn't give a shit if we get Sanchez bloke or not and if Ajax are turning their nose up at over 30 million for a bloke they paid less than five for a year ago Adios.

Their league holds them back in a big way. A shame as they are one of footballs classic outfits.

I think they like dealing with us as we have the same philosophy. It's like an extension of what they are doing but in a different league

Thing is, even with a long contract it is very hard and disruptive to try and hold onto a player who wants to leave. Especially when the leagues being talked about are so different. It's possible with an older player but with a younger talent like this the player leaving for a free at his peak is unthinkable.

But I do see what you're saying about how you don't need the money, and more pertinently that the money won't help you as you sort of can't spend it.

I think you're right that Ajax may try to hold out for a larger fee. But it's hard to see anyone paying more than we are offering. The oil rich clubs would have made their move last month if they wanted him bad enough. I doubt Levy will go above £30M, he isn't going to turn this kid, a CB, into our record signing.
