Ex-Spurs Player Davinson Sanchez

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let's not start with the revisionism. Had notable mistakes against Barca and Fulham under Ange. Sanchez absolutely didn't work out as a backup. The problems in him became intrinsic rather than systemic. Poor composure and bad decisions

Dier is a better defender than him . That does not make Dier useful but I would rather have the better defender and expect Ange to cover up his deficiencies for the matches he has to play.

How does one cover up his deficiencies when the main attributes you need to play in a high line is pace and anticipation and Dier is clearly lacking in both, how does that work? :gallashmm:

There's nothing 'realistic' about playing Dier in any position though.

Klopp or Pep didn't just 'make do' with what they had, they enforced their philosophies on their clubs and their players and it eventually paid dividends
And it showed how big a clown Klopp was pre Van Dijk when he played a high line with Lovren and Klavan. Even Pep's first season at city, he couldn't implement the inverted fullback style with clichy and sagna properly.

But this irrelevant. Iam not batting for Dier to become an integral member of the squad.

What I want is in case of an injury, right now, chances are that either Dier or Sanchez starts. If either of them would start, I would prefer it to be Dier over Sanchez and for Ange to make temporary changes. Sanchez has regressed and whether you play a high line or park the bus, that dude had a brainfart in him

He's not better than Sanches for Anges system and the coach knows it whatever happens with Romero I can not see Ange relenting and playing Eric Dier ever with Sanches gone.

What you've stumbled into here is something Ange covered in his TS interview today..... When building a team/philosophy/style of play; do you sacrifice a) long term trajectory in favor of b) short term gain?

Pep, Klopp and Ange all choose A.

Me neither..... Dier massively failed his audition v Barca.

Dav may have had his flaws, but fundamentally he was way better suited to how Ange wants to play........ It's baffling that some people don't see this..... (And I say that as someone that has seen fit to defend Dier on many many occasions.)

Klopp and Pep are clowns who have both won PL's and CL's yet here you are claiming they did the wrong thing in implementing their philosophy early doors, okay then , not really sure what to say about that. 🤦‍♀️

Dier is done at this club that much is clear, he doesn't and never will fit into Ange's system and we're a much better team with him not being in it, Ange changing tactics just to accommodate a shit player is just ass backwards.

I bet you Dier doesn't start, I bet you he plays Phillips ahead of Dier, Dier couldn't even get a place on the bench against Fulham, tells you all you need to know

Sanchez won't start as he is gone now but everyone with a pair of eyes will tell you that he's a much better option in Ange's system over Dier who is just utterley useless, Sanchez had one thing that Dier lacked severely and that was pace.

How can you not know we sold Sanchez? I don't get it.

Is sacrificing playstyle in favour of results for some matches given we have injuries, a gain or simply maintaining momentum?

Look Iam not asking our manager to, let's say sit back against City, when we have all our first choice players fit in greed of a point or a win on the back of a counter But since the squad isn't yet fashioned to Ange's liking, it should be obvious that the playstyle will have to give in case of injuries in the squad.
