You said "how incredible Kulu has been" which a) even if we include pre season was a hilarious exaggeration and b) was a stupid thing to say about some friendlies.
Johnson was our best attacker today and changed the game. The same negative crowd are very quick to come and bash him but much slower to give him praise.

May not be the answer to all or any of our problems. But fuck me he can make oppo players look silly sometimes.
And as an aside he seems fully committed 100% of the time and I don’t recall him being injured much.

He was never going to be effective in the air against Newcastle's setup- they put out a giant side, even in comparison to us. Our attack didn't really play it into the box on the deck for him, and he didn't drop deep while at ST to receive it. He did have some nice runs down the left and won some corners for us.
At CM I thought he did really well for minutes 45-80. After 80 though I thought he wasted a lot of the ball and killed a couple key attacks with crap passes. Perhaps he should have been subbed off instead of Maddison.

I'll just say it- I did- and I still think it can. I just don't know if he's gonna be good trying to lead the line against a compact back 5 of players like Newcastle. They even played like 3 CDMs against us too.
It was only 45' in one game, and Newcastle weren't trying to do anything except park the bus and counter. It was pretty obvious Sarr was the one to sub out, especially after the early yellow, and Ange's move to add an extra attacker in bringing on Johnson and reshuffling the front line was absolutely the right decision given the way Newcastle set up.
Played well...but even the highlights make it abundantly clear it was Isak we should have broken bank for. Gyokeres didn't set of any fire alarms either.
Not sure Newcastle would have accepted anything less than a world record transfer fee regardless. Nor do I think Isak sees much of a step up between the two clubs.
I guess he just shouldn't bother.
