Brilliant Balance, body feints, timing of when to move the ball in relation to the body positioning of his opponent (extraordinarily similar to watching an elite boxing technician pick his shots), and an explosive first step even though top speed isn’t great and the savvy to use his body to protect the ball.Perhaps technical ability might be ball carrying ability.
He can definitely beat a man 1-2-1 and seems to be the only player we have that can do it.
His strength and being hard to knock off the ball is something that might explain why his predictable movements still can’t be stopped?
The boxing analogy is pretty on point, he's like one of those boxers who has a perfect sense range and can just lean out of range of a swing without having to move backwards. He baits the opposition into overcommitting to a block/tackle, and almost has to wait for them to finish fucking up, so that space opens up for him to move forward or pick out a pass.Brilliant Balance, body feints, timing of when to move the ball in relation to the body positioning of his opponent (extraordinarily similar to watching an elite boxing technician pick his shots), and an explosive first step even though top speed isn’t great and the savvy to use his body to protect the ball.
A bit of Bale and a bit of Dembele. Or you could say Lamela on Steroids with way more composure.
Reminds me so much of Dembele. You kinda know what’s coming but you can’t stop it anyway.
I went back and read the beginning of this thread — those who weighed in on whether he would be a good signing.
Some of those comments seem prescient now.
Meanwhile, others should be eating humble pie for the rest of the season.
You know who you are.
I noticed in the Leeds game that he's been cutting in a lot less and just driving into the box with his right foot. Clearly something he's been working on.What was great about the 4th goal was that he used his right foot to go past the defender, which completely flat footed the defender. All defenders expect him to cut inside but when he doesn't, it is quite effective.
Marvelous player with such a high ceiling.
Did the same for the Bentancur thread.
I am almost tempted to go back and quote them when some of these wizards next piss me off!
Gotta hope that we can keep him which might not be easy if he continues like this. Watched the game yesterday with my friend who worked for Spurs. We both thought the same. I honestly think if he was a yard quicker — not that he’s slow — he’d be at a higher profile club already.hopefully hes here for the next 10 years because hes on a fast track to becoming a genuine world class player
They must have 35 monitors plugged in watching every single league, somehow have an opinion on every single player we're linked with.
