Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The thread is flooded by people baffled by Blakey's absurd take on his game. If he didn't post rubbish stats I would not have mave made a single post.
Kulu had a good game yesterday. Nothing special.
He got an assist. Assists are great.

BC got tagged because people know he doesn’t rate Kulu and they decided one 7/10 performance against Everton at home was worth tagging him.

I don’t agree with everything in his breakdown post but it’s more or less correct and factual.

Kulu doesn't have everything going through him like Palmer does for Chelsea, he also played a lot fewer minutes.

Our Palmer equivalent is Maddison, and he has the same xA as Palmer.

Maddison is also much better than Kulusevski. You could make everything go through Kulu and you wouldn’t get a Palmer or a Maddison, ever.

We have played two of the worst four teams in the division.

Does this look like he was playing centrally

He was supposed to be playing as a R8. He didn’t though.

Was he playing as "R8" though? I don't think so. For me he was playing up front on the right side.

He was also tasked with taking corners and supporting (also taking) throw ins on that side. Naturally those plays would have him staggered more to the right. Front post was his role on corners from the other side, was following in most attempts on goal, making runs off Keane, dropping deep and offering an option even if not used.

Did Ange say it was a 433 with Kulusevski playing R8 as you call it? I don't think so. I saw him playing up front with Son, both dropping deep, both making runs and both pressing man to man.

Often when he was on the right flank Johnson went to the middle in a strikers position. It worked well and we won 4-0 with the all important first goal coming from some excellent intricate dribbling work inside the box.

Stupid to compare him with Palmer. Palmer is something else.
Kulu is still very good and often our most creative player. The goal he set up for Bissouma was brilliant and not many players in the league can unlock defences like that. It's up to Ange to get him more involved.

Kulusevski has his strengths and is a good player, very good on his day. But Palmer is at least a level above him, possibly two. Lets get real.

I did often feel he was trying to play RW rather than play an actual disciplined CM role.
He did get some runs up the right when Johnson switched with him or was back defending. I recall him megging the right back on the way to the end line where he held off two defenders and won a corner. It was an impressive run.

Kulu would look even better if Johnson could link up, but he can’t.

From my perspective it appeared that Ange had Kulu and Maddison in 8/10 hybrid roles- they both tracked back, but also both took up positions cutting in from the wing of their respective sides. I enjoyed the formation and look forward to it being played more often. I and others theorized that this formation would be effective as far as last summer preseason. Great to see it coming to fruition.
