It is a struggle to keep up with what the optimum amount of games is.....there's always an excuse
It’s not an exact science. Plenty of top players will say they hate being left out and they want to play every game. Others don’t give a shit. They’ll sit on the bench for as long as they can without it worrying them.

Personally I always want guys who are in the first category not the second.

not ideal considering the incredibly important games now, james Maddison needs to sit out of the Bournemouth game.
Maybe a time to try Moore there, but will more likely be Bergvall

Still don't understand why he didn't sound out if he's not feeling his best for so long. And also don't understand why Ange, or any coach, couldn't see how he's not performing and give him more rest/recovery time. It could all well be preventable. I can only shrug my shoulders at the ridiculously sqaud management. Ffs.
Cause he’s got a warrior’s mentality and was trying to help us in an obviously tough time.

But then why play hurt/tired and potentially damage your long term earning potential? Seems obviously a personal pride thing, to me…
Playing hurt and tired is something all top sportsmen do. You’ll hear ex players in all sports tell stories of times they played through injury or pain. When it’s your job, you just suck it up and get on with it. Otherwise you don’t get to this level. Elite level sport will filter out those without that mentality pretty quickly.

I mean- I hear you, but I’m not sure that fully explains this siuation. Also I think the times and mentality have changed- players should be, and are being more proactive with regards to their long term fitness- sports science have better awareness of these issues nowadays generally.

I meant the general narrative around football - it seems to be a game every:

4 days = playing too often, tired
5 days = lacking match fitness

All on Ange I’m afraid. He has ruined this man’s legs as he’s done to many others.

He fundamentally doesn’t respect the physical demands of this level or the physical limits of players. Totally arrogant idea of football.
