The combo of our awful medical staff, along with Ange overplaying favorites and not rotating enough, was absolutely deleterious to our squad health the past two seasons.
Can't believe there are still people blaming our injury problems on Ange Postecoglou FFS!

Especially since our two worst injuries this season (Kudus & Xavi) happened to players who, as far as I know, never even met the bloke!

Lol- Walter- we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.
The man played favorites, and allowed players to run themselves into the ground. He did not rotate enough.

I think that would be fair enough, if we hadn't had a similar number of players get injured this season, many of whom never even played for the man.

It's clear the problem lies with our medical department / training facilities rather than any particular manager.

Cartilage doesn't really re-grow so the best that we can hope for is that he finds some sort of balance like Ledley between playing and constant rehab.
Cartilage does regrow. When I had my hip smashed, the cartilage was heavily damaged, as was the bone. The surgeon told me that the marrow leaking from the damage would either reform the bone or form cartilage, possibly even both. As it happens it was cartilage that reformed but, as the bone didn't heal, it wore away the cartilage that reformed, so my hip was replaced.

Basically, they can regrow cartilage from bone marrow, but it's not an exact science.

I haven’t liked the reporting around him from the start. I think everyone knows more than they are letting on. And it’s not good.
Genuinely think they don't know. It's one of the rarest injuries in sport. There's no one size fits all for recovery. You can come back, or you might not be able to. I don't think the club coming and saying it's potentially career ending would be particularly helpful to Deki.

My friends teammate did it at 27. Semi pro, Northern Irish premier league (or championship) player. Rehabbed for 18 months and had to retire.

When Eriksen wa sheer he was the player who ran the most. Average 12km..8 miles. Season before last Deki ran an average of 15km..10 miles . One of the highest in the league I believe . And then he broke .
The way football is played these days there is no wonder that players are injured all the time .
It’s not great that he has been out over 12 months and is still not back in training .

His knee was smashed in a contact injury. Nothing to do with running further / too many games. If that had been the only game he’d played that year exactly the same thing would have happened.
