Player Destiny Udogie

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

this is true but at least porro puts the ball in the box every now and then instead of trying to overplay every single time! our play down the left is extremely transparent.
Agreed it's not flowing particularly well down the left, but I do also think that Destiny's run beyond the wide man often gets ignored and then the only pass available is the one back inside to recycle. If whoever is playing out on the left tried to find Destiny on an overlapping/underlapping run a bit more often then maybe we wouldn't need to recycle backwards so much.

Don't think we would find it much more successful if we just swung in long deep crosses from Udogie anyway. We might win a header here or there, but most premier league centre backs are eating those up 9/10 times.

He needs the same treatment that Maddison got today, he is costing too many goals with how he defends. An assist every now and then isn't going to cover that.

Next time Spence is available and Udogie is sleeping in defence, Ange should hook him in my opinion.

Turned it around in the 2nd half, but he was proper shit for their goal.

The lack of challenging header in the edge of the box was criminal. Then was all at sea trying to deal with Bowen before the cross.

spence should start the next game. udogie far too soft. needs to sort his game out i think hes been poor for a long time and for some reason his position doesnt seem under threat when it should be.

I don't disagree but might be better to sub him if he is playing half asleep, then there's no real complaints if Spence comes off the bench, plays well and gets a start.

But however it's done, I hope Ange gets players on their toes and not comfortable as so many have been at our club over the years. Want to see them fighting to keep the shirt.

if he half asleep? he looks far too soft in duals, wants to play the game without getting dirty or taking a bump. i just think hes been poor for far too long and he should be dropped now. what sort of message does it send to spence when hes watching this and still not getting the nod? its poor.

everyone knows what udogie is going to do every time he gets the ball now, its all very transparent. no variation to his game, very easy to play against.

Bowen did the same to VDV before they scored. I think I've made this point before but people forget he is young and still learning the demands of a frankly pretty unique position. I think he hasn't learned the fundamental of defending as a fullback. He reminds me of young Kyle Walker, it took proper defensive coaching to fix Walker not sure Ange sees it as that big a deal though.

It's quite common in big leagues that a young new arrival have good 1st season only to falter a bit in the 2nd season because then the other teams have figured him out and taken advantages of his weakness.
A quality player will bounce back by improving/overcoming his weaknesses.
Kyle Walker is a prime example of that.

Looking distinctly average defensively. Basically did the same thing in this game as he did Brighton and it's costing us goals. Needs to put in as much effort in stopping opposition players as he does when he's on the ball. He's a great ball carrier but he really needs to stop being so lazy and letting attackers get in so easily. Schoolboy stuff not getting goal side then not putting in the effort to put it right. He's become a bit of a liability defensively for me right now. He's very very good in the opposite side of his game if he can get the defensive side right then he's a top level full back.

He’s got all the tools but he’s the laziest defender I’ve seen for us in years. Don’t care what age he is and I think leaving him out might be what’s needed to hopefully give him the kick up his arse that he obviously needs. He’s been at mainly at fault for 3 of the last 4 goals conceded. Definitely need an upgrade at left back in January to make him fight for his place. Its too easy for him to stay in the team.

I said when he was at Udinese that he's very lazy with allowing crosses in and 2 years on, it's still the same. As mentioned, he's got the tools and he's still young so he can improve tremendously, but yeah, it needs sorting because the two goals conceded against Brighton and West Ham are criminal from him.

Saying that, the composure for his assist was brilliant.

He has got to defend with more authority, a big unit like him shouldn't be letting people walk past him which he's done far too many times this season. Hopefully he really focuses on it because we can't put up with it forever. At the moment it is way to easy for opponents to attack our box from that side, he's got to be more of a bully.

spot on. his positioning when defending is very schoolboy like. clearly doesnt understand the importance of getting goal side, ive seen this a lot with him. yea, decent ball carrier, thats about it to be honest.

the goal yesterday, what is he even thinking? hes showing bowen to goal ffs. that would be poor defending from a striker let alone someone whos meant to be a defender, its braindead. i see it a little while ago when hes running back to stop a forward and instead of trying to get inside and get himself between the goal and the player hes trying to come on the outside which was a lot harder to do anyway. its fucking bizarre, that sort of shit should be natural, shouldnt need to be taught. its like an 8 year old defending.
