Player Destiny Udogie

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But Benny and Berba produced. Benny hated football and it was only a job to him but was 100 percent player. Berba was just Berba. Pure class.

LOL..... Benny wasn't 100% anything........ Enigmatic, mercurial and talented for sure; but he only started to deliver consistently in the latter half of his time here (roughly aged 26-29..... By comparison Udog is only 22.). The fans were on his back on plenty of occasions before that.

Besides; Udogie was "producing" too....... Considered on a path to "world class" by plenty (check thread).

He's not at all garbage this reminds completely of Jan Vertonghen l, who everyone now worships. After the utter fucking incoherence of the Sherwood years he was reviled.

I remember the utter raping Vertonghen was central to against City and Liverpool. I recall Nevile saying Vertonghen quit in the tunnel before a game. It was the complete absence of a real structure.

I desperately want Postecoglou fired this Summer then people like Udogie can stop being asked to hurt themselves playing three positions at once badly. And refocus on the basics of orthodox righback. A position he has still to properly learn. I mean seriously : Sarr ,Udogie, Romero, Son, Bentancur, Vicario all crap..even Van Der Ven was starting to throw in some stinkers before he was injured. This is the coach people need to stop protecting him.
Is there a Jan Vertonghen II???

If there is we really should be all over that!

Seriously though, I agree completely. We've seen enough of many of these players to know they have quality, they just need a coach to harness that and provide a system that makes the most of their strengths and covers their weaknesses, not whatever this bollocks that we're doing right now is.

Back to basics wouldn't hurt, play a left back at left back rather than two right backs and leave the left back you've ostracised twiddling his thumbs on the bench for example.

If the youth team striker is the only striker left then play him instead of shoving Son up top.

We're an absolute mess and it seems to get worse with each game, tonight we've got people expecting the line up to have left back Ben Davies playing at centre back whilst we shunt Archie Gray the midfielder who's been playing at centre back, out to left back. All whilst we've just loaned out the next centre back in line from the youth team out to Aberdeen...

And we'll have a fucking DJ sat on the bench who at the age of 26 still hasn't even come close to touching fucking grass for us.

I swear for all the fancy facilities and infrastructure, we are not a serious football club.

You got to keep it simple with this guy, he’s not the most well-rounded player ever. He’ll get up and down the touchline for 90 minutes thanks to his good engine and athleticism, deliver a cross the first chance he gets, play simple one twos like the ones he had with Son etc.

Whether he’s actually a wingback or a fullback is a discussion that’s more about semantics than anything else, and is not very relevant here. What’s more important is that he’s not the inverted fullback -or whatever it is called- Ange thinks he is/should be.

He was fine today in a more limited role that suits him much better.

Not fit to lace Djeds boots. Absolute fucking liability. Reminds me of dier the way he could see what's happening but to lazy to do anything about it. Wants to put in the effort going forwards but can't be fucked when it comes to going back to our goal.

I've got no idea what this guy is thinking about when he's playing , he's no LB for mine , has no idea how to track his man or hold him wide , and far too loose with the ball .
Not even sure he's that good going forward .
Maybe just more time needed but Spence has put miles between himself and Udogie .

Strange one. He has shown that he can pocket dangerous wingers in the (distant) past, he’s shown he can get involved in the attacking build up. But since the first 10 matches of Ange’s tenure, he has never once put them together.

If we’re being honest, he hasn’t had a performance that’s merited better than a 6/10 in more than a calendar year. I have no clue what to do with this guy because he’s clearly talented and clearly performing like shit.

Give him a good manager

His link-up play is great.
His physicality is good.

His awareness could be improved.
His tracking-back is diabolical.
His crossing is non-existant.

At the moment, Reguilon looks a more well-rounded player compared to him, and that's saying a lot considering Reguilon's flaws. Spence is on another level compared to both of them.

He was never a defensive full back at Udinese , he was a wing back who was incredibly powerful for a player of his age but doesn’t seem to have a football brain . Liverpool accept Trent’s lack of defensive nous because he brings so much to the attacking side of their play but Udogie offers so little aside from a decoy run. We paid £15m for him and it was definitely worth a punt but he’s clearly not a footballer and more an athlete . I’d keep him as a squad player but would like to see that position upgraded in the summer .
