Player Destiny Udogie

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is another thing about our wage structure. It's so easy to unsettle our players because they get wind that another club wants to pay them more. If City really are interested, who knows how long they have been in Udogie's ear and what they have been telling him.

We doubled his wage from Udinese when we signed him and already gave him a new deal in December 2023, now he's on £75k a week which is pretty good for a full back, what has he done since to get a pay rise?

What do City pay their FBs?

If they have been interested seriously and talking about it with him, what difference does it make if he's played well enough to earn more?

But, there is a very good chance Udogie's agent just paid Romano to say this. Why he'd do that is another question.

Not sure but my point is that you can't point the finger at our wage structure when he's already had two salary bumps in 2 years, maybe if he was playing well and was a stand out performer you could question it but on this occasion...

I think it's just a case of City being interested in a players, not everything comes down to money...they can tower over 99% of other football clubs when it comes to pay.

I hear you but is it just City that can do that with wages?

75k pw sounds decent but Villa are paying Ian Maatsen 100k pw. Wan Bissaka is on 90k pw.

We underpay wages compared to a lot of clubs we are competing with.

What should Udogie be on then in that case, seeing he was on £15k p/w when he was at Udinese, he then doubled his money to £30k when he first signed and then got a 150% increase in the first 6 months to £75k when he was actually performing? I'd say that's more than fair wouldn't you?

Are we meant to increase his wage when he hasn't deserved a pay hike just because other clubs are paying more, that's not a good strategy.

The issue with the wages isn't things like these, I don't have a problem with a sensible strategy, the issue is lowering the wage bill and replacing the established players with kids with 0 experience and expecting us to compete.

I've said it all along.

Transfer fees should be scrapped and all contracts should be for one season only.

You may lose some of your better players but you can burn all the garbage overnight too and start again.

Make it honest and make it all about the wages. The players and their fucking agents have ruined it for everyone.

The players who deserve it will get payed well every season and the time wasters can be jogged on.
