Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Told this a few days ago. He's over the line needs to seize his chance now. And he can't afford to drift away from his focus and commitment to staying true to his discipline. Over to you Djed. It's good because obviously we are not prepared to spend money so anything the boy can save us can go toward a forward, and wide player.

Best possible outcome (if he can keep it going).

"I think with Djed, for me we got him back into pre-season and we’re judging him on his merits. He's a Tottenham player. To be fair to him, I think he's been very, very good for us this pre-season, in terms of the way he's trained and his general attitude," said the Spurs boss. "But a lot of these things are in the players' hands themselves. They kind of decide their own future in many respects and I think Djed is in that boat.

"I think there's an opportunity for him here, for sure. Thinking about building a squad, he would be definitely somebody who could [contribute] with the attributes he has. I thought last year there was a chance but it didn't quite work out. For those kind of things, I think sometimes players really wait for direction when they can really take control of their own direction."

He added: "Djed’s here. He is a Spurs player. He's a very good player who fits into our football and so it's as much about him as it is about me making a decision.

"As you see right now, he's been very good pre-season, he's been very good on the tour. He's impressed all the coaches, not just myself. For some of them it’s the first time they've worked with him and they've all been really impressed with him.

"Maybe he's learned a couple of things over the last couple of years about himself and hopefully we can sort of bear the fruit of that."

Things you love to read.

We all love a phoenix from the flames

Djed at the peak of his ability is an England RB. Don’t know that those cost these days but it’s more than we were going to spend on a rotation option for Porro

That's Park Lane FLAG material!!

This is honestly great to read.

Our previous manager turned his back on him and called him a club signing after he gave the okay to sign him, shit man management most probably knocked his confidence and caused him to rebel and down tools.

Ange has that Aussie attitude and is prepared to" give anybody a go if they shape up"!

Spence working out finally is a massive touch. He's homegrown, tall and decent in the air for set pieces and covers both RB and LB. Plus he has all the tools required to play this system. If he has got his head together he's save us 30-40m at least.

And it is pure luck because they were 100% looking to sell him.

Wouldn't say it's all down to luck, the club took a calculated risk in buying him in the first place for situations like these, he may not have featured much yet but the loans we've sent him on has prepared him for this moment, the penny had to drop at some point.

We were trying to sell him for 8m this summer because we’d given up on him.

He is the one that decided that rock bottom was far enough down. Ange has given him a chance but we weren’t planning for this too happen and it’s a massive touch that it has.

We didn't plan for Bale to hit form when we planned to flog him to Forest but that's football, it's called a calculated risk...sometimes risks work out, sometimes the don't.
