It’s a bullshit comment from Ange. We absolutely need to have viable rotation for the fullbacks in his system or they’ll end up as broken as our centre backs. To date, he’s preferred (for whatever reason) to put square pegs in round holes when it’s been forced on him through the injuries that the training, the system or whatever it is has saddled him with.
He clearly didn’t/doesn’t fancy Spence. To be fair, neither has anyone else so far.
But from what I saw of him before we signed him and the rare appearances he’s made for us, he looks a perfectly capable player to rotate either full back.
He deserves a good run now to allow Porro & Udogie to have a break.
And he should also get minutes if we’re chasing games as he’s an attacking threat. The ball through to Maddison for the opener was absolutely filthy.

No that's a nonsense. They are not either or, Archie Gray is 18. What I see on various issue is a coach whose ego gets in the way. There's no guarantee Gray has a higher developmental ceiling than Spence either.
Ange boxed himself in with some strange choices then seemed loathed to unpick the mess created. Spence in all honesty looks as able as the two fullbacks that have been flogged in his stead ...he may prove better in terms of all round game than either because the defending of both Porro and Udogie on occasion woeful . My mate taken to calling the horror and you-dodgy.
Lets see how he does against opposition that is not Southampton.
And strong too refusing to be shaken off as he made the run that resulted in our first goal!

Except it was 12M for Djed and it was two years ago so 40% has already been written off through amortisation so book value is now 7.2M. So more 40:7.2 means game time priority 5.6 to 1.
Archie so far 963 minutes, Djed 186, ratio 5.2:1, pretty close.

There was a foul he committed early on where he was a bit lucky not to be cautioned ( he was late and stomped on the players foot). Other than he had a good game.
Said the same with him in the back line and VDV you have two players who can get back and cover. Porro doesn’t have the pace and destiny the awareness.

I watched the interview and it sounded like he meant it.
Telling for me is that he only mentioned cover at RB, which is true. I think Gray started RB in the City league cup win so Gray was behind and waiting then.
Tells me that he doesn’t really see him as LB cover even if the club didn’t get him cover for Destiny and VDV. But he’s probably played more minutes at LB than RB this season.
