I didn't say Spence was hated, just that Forster is very well liked.
I don’t know at all. All I do know is it was a great opportunity for him to start games at RB. Instead we now are at risk of overusing Porro if anything happens to Gray (assuming he will start).
My concern isn't so much Gray at RB as it is Gray NOT playing as CM in these games.

I mean; isn't grooming Gray as our next DM the plan? ......Surely we didn't spend 40m on a back-up RB?
Gray himself said he's a 8 rather than a 6.
No one really knows what the club has planned for him.
At his age I don't think it's a huge issue to start a few games at RB in Europe. He will get sub appearances in midfield throughout the season.
He could also be really effective as a RB and once he gains more experience I can see scenarios where we opt for Gray rather than Porro for the extra solidity in certain games.
Gray - Romero - Dragusin - VDV if we fancy going Man City style.

Been away all weekend and only just seen that he's done this, really don't understand the logic in it. Forster is fucking shite, there's no way one of the two CT keepers couldn't do an equal job to him of just getting in the way of shots, Forster is glacially slow these days. There's no way Spence couldn't have done a job in the full 90 vs the likes of Qarabag, Ferencvaros and Elfsborg, even if Ange actually really wants to go for it this year and play a stronger XI against the better sides in the draw.
Let me repeat what I think. This is like the Matt Doherty debacle. I'm not at all sure how reliable and switched on the people in strategic control have a bloody clue what they are doing.
Depends. On the surface it looks strange but maybe there is information we don't know. Maybe Spence starts the prem games before or after the weds and Udog plays the Europa.
Or maaaaybeeee he’s just Djed Spence still, there is no renaissance, and he’s just not going to be used much if at all during the season.

Yeah exactly. Small part of me wonders if he's already done something to annoy Ange in the last week ,and maybe that was the real reason he didn't make the Europa squad... Hope I'm wrong!

Been used off the bench twice already. Last year he was sent on loan.

There's no getting around it - big slap in the face for the guy and clear lack of trust from Ange.
Considering he's (on paper) our best profile cover for both Porro/Udogie it makes no sense for Ange not to include him if he was actually rated and trusted.
