Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Compared to anyone. Had immense form at times last season but this year id rather try spence vdv or davies there if all were healthy. Unless you’re maddison ange has a long leash for benching our “best 11”
Not a defender really, not bad at dueling for a loose ball but not for me otherwise

100% would play VDV there and tell him to tuck in and not get involved in midfield centrally…. Odd forward run but defend and give balance

He needs competition, he hasn't become bad, he's just become lazy because he doesn't have anyone challenging him for his spot, at least Porro has that now with Spence.

Spence speaks out after pivotal moment in Carabao Cup victory

After a dynamic performance against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, which saw Spence deliver a crucial assist, the defender was quick to express his gratitude and determination.

When asked whether he ever lost hope that his time would come at Tottenham, Spence firmly responded as relayed by The Mirror: “No, it’s never over until I leave. There’s always a chance to play.”

Reflecting on how he turned the tide in winning over Ange Postecoglou, Spence remained humble, stating: “I’m not sure really, I’ve just grown as a person I guess. During loan spells, you learn a lot so when I came back I just got straight to it really, with the right mentality. I’m pleased to be here.”

The full-back continued: “I just want to keep going. I’m happy with the assist and hopefully,y I keep helping the team out, keep going, playing well and hopefully we can also keep winning.

“Sometimes it’s difficult but you’ve got to stay ready. Thank you to my teammates and the coaching staff for helping me stay ready for when I get my chance to then do what I do.

“I got an assist and last game I got an assist, so I’m pleased with myself. We train hard so I’m always prepared and you’ve got to be ready at all costs.”

Djed was good again today I thought.

Sounds a bit odd I know when Salah got 2G 2A but those were generally after Djed had to leave his man to cover the more immediate threat when we'd been better down the left / middle.

I don't understand why this lad hasn't been playing, he looked solid again today. Odd thing to say in a 3-6 but I don't recall too many errors. He must have done something we don't know about some serious breach of Club rules to be left out in the cold.

He's already better than Udogie imo and its not even his preferred position.

Was MOM for us 1st half.

Our set up fucked him in the end as part of his job was to bound up like a greyhound - regardless of what was going on around him - and then got caught with his pants down in no mans land when they countered.

I think he's a very gopod player and he needs a better manager to bring him through properly and not totally fuck his potential.

He did ok.

He’s a good footballer. I think he enjoys the more fractured and open way we play; suits his style.

Was pressing far too high for their third though.

I watched the Sky clowns do about half an hour on that bit of pressing. "we'd just got back in the game, we should be keeping it tight, blah blah". It was absolutely garbage. We'd just got ourselves back in the game by pressing them high - which we'd barely done all half. Forcing TAA to just lump a ball on his wrong foot is exactly what we should be doing, rather than letting them pass through us the way they had been all half, just absolute dogshit luck and incompetence that we allowed them to turn a blind hoof into a fucking goal.

Honestly, those guys (Redknapp, Carragher, Neville) are fucking clueless. Like Neville Thursday night blaming the Ange philosophy and whole team for Forster being a total fucking twat. Forster wasn't even trying to play a pass the second goal, just whack it long, but he's such a useless twat he took a clumsy touch then took half an hour to cover one yard while their guy covered 15 yards in half a second.

He actually done well against Salah, another positive game from him.

He needs to be kept in the team because he's more than good enough to play RB and LB

I debated it, does come in a little bit heavy for a single paragraph but there was no clear and obvious break point. I should pay mind to the tik tok generation of today that can only handle 4 or 5 words every 15 seconds or so, my apologies.
Got nothing to do with attention span, mate. Just normal writing to use paragraph breaks especially when people are mostly reading on phones these days👍

Thought DJed was our best player when at the game and watching it back on telly gives me no reason to change that opinion. He marshalled Salah well, won most of their one on one duels and made many great interceptions.

Just needs to get rid of the unnecessary "D" in his name and he'll be sorted 👍

I dunno if it's as complicated as all that.

And I don't think it's true that he's been the second coming of Dani Alves every time he's played, not even last night.

It all looks clearly like a talented young footballer who experienced a lot of very young success not having the professionalism and work habits to kick on to a higher level, seeing his career wobble as a result, getting exposed to some different countries and leagues and coaches, and now, hopefully, seeing the light and getting his head on straight. At age 24 he's learned he can't act like a kid anymore.

Not an uncommon story in football or in many other areas of life.

Absolutely. His coaches when he was on loan quickly lost patience with him and Conte and Ange both wanted him nowhere near the squad in the first year they had him.

Clearly something clicked early this year - enough for him to to earn Anges trust enough to be given the chance to break into the squad and now the first 11.

Hope he keeps going because he has the talent

doesnt get sent off today if he wasnt playing under the worst manager in premier league history. he also doesnt lose the ball for the first goal if playing for a proper football manager either.
