Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The fact that Ange has seemingly got the best out of him where other managers failed, he should be praised for
That’s fair … ultimately he is part of that small set of managers that have got DJed on the pitch and playing well

And yet you get the feeling it was less through design and more from circumstance. Like he’s managed it through gritted teeth and a necessity ot having no other options.

He had a full preseason with DJed, sent him packing…. Then the recent preseason and still he hardly saw game time whilst confirming a perceived lack of trust with his choice as the sacrificial Europa lamb.

Consider, this less than whole hearted engagement was particularly careless upon proof that DJed was actually fucking excellent … at fullback no less … the source of at least 12 lost points last season.

So whilst it seems we got there in the end you’ll forgive me if I don’t join in congratulating Ange with any real vigour of admiration.

Full credit would’ve been to identify the talent he has, early doors and smooth out any djed idiosyncrasies that hindered him from playing where he duly belonged.

Then I’d be crowing what a great job Ange did with young DJed especially after a year with the psychopath but maybe slightly more important would’ve been the credit in the form of 12 valuable yet dropped points .

I don't get that at all, looking at the players history with other managers it looks to me like he was being managed and the penny finally dropped.

The whole gritted teeth thing is just a projection.

Fair enough if that's what you feel, but it doesnt seem likely considering how much Ange has used other players - Sarr and Udogie last season, Bergavll, Gray this....

The most likely is that Djed had to get his act together and prove himself worthy of a place in the side - you hear it all the time - players are paid to train....it's what they spend most of their time doing. If he wasn't cutting it in training, Ange would not reward him by giving him game time.

I'm the incoherent one here. OK buddy. Not you digging through old press conference quotes that you didn't watch and assuming sarcasm to fit your own weird obsession with finding negatives in a positive story for the team.

Djed has worked out at Spurs for the first time since he arrived in 2022. It's great news for the player, great news for the team, and great news for the club. Just be happy with it.

You just move goalposts once again- the point Ange never believed in Spence, and Spence and has proved him wrong. You just ignore all of that and say it's a great story for Spurs.

It's cowardly the way you avoid discussing the central premises made in arguments.

Ange essentially said that Spence had a limited ceiling- as recently as 4 months ago.

You guys are hilarious, and absolutely digging as hard as you collectively can for any reason to praise Ange.

He said that Spence knocked down last month.

Ignore the evidence if you wish but then again you don't like this manager so I'm not surprised you're disregarding it, anyway you do you.

He said that "playing regularly would be a major turnaround for Djed". Not that he could be star, or that he was excited about Spence, but that he thought if he could play regularly that would be amazing.

It's honestly deluded to read that quote and think to yourself he had any sort of great belief or optimism in Djed.

Mental gymastics.

I find it hilarious that it's gone from Spence not even being included in the Europa squad and being completely ignored for critical games to our extreme detriment, to now "Ange having coached Spence really well." Truly funny.

If find it hilarious how fans just ignore blatant evidence of past behaviours about the player purely because they don't like the manager.

If you want to be blind then that's completely on you, no skin of my nose.

Anyway let's just be happy that he's playing now, player has done will to knuckle down and has responded to the manager, a success story that our fans are desperate to find the negative in once again, boring.

It seems pretty obvious Ange played Spence as an absolute last resort, and Reguilon as an even more last resort. For you guys to somehow ascribe this to "good coaching" is just funny. Carry on though- it's your McWorld.
