Saw both sides of him today.
The good side - I felt like, on the whole, he kept Saka fairly quiet (although I don't rate Saka but better men than me do so I'll give him a positive mark here)
The bad side - Holds on to the ball too long. Invites pressure then has to play it backwards or loses it. There was one moment today I wanted to throw something at the TV! Had the ball in loads of space, stopped, stood around, let players close him down and all of a sudden we were under pressure again!
Frustrating.

I wish he was a Fulham type player. I don’t want him if we’re in the championship next season. He’s not good enough for that. More of a Portsmouth level player.
He is exactly what we bought. A sub £10m player who fills a spot due to being English. The fact he still gets minutes show how bad our squad building has been

He's showing exactly why numerous managers ignored him .

not sure who this cunt thinks he is, braindead mug. he hangs onto the ball far too long and it causes us problems, hes one thick cunt. we have some real shit players, when we have thickos like this getting serious gametime it sums up why we are where we are. hes not a footballer.
Endlessly frustrating today. Did a decent enough job negating Saka, but then attempts to hold the ball up not far from our box and is dispossessed. Getting the whiff of another who rates himself higher than his actual consistency and performances indicate.

Agree with you re the hype - I worry VDV might have also fallen prey to it. His head doesnt seem in the right place (and I dont mean in the sense of a childs drawing)
I think the reality is that having bought him, the fans couldn't understand why he was frozen out, and then when he got a chance, he was pretty good to begin with.
Consistency and injuries are the plagues at Spurs (the chronic illness is the ownership).

And we have not found a managervwho has been able to make the summer of yhe individual parts much better than the individual parts themselves.

He didn’t keep Saka quiet. He peeled away from him loads and was very active in the build up to multiple goals. He also could’ve scored a couple more goals if he was sharper. Saka was one of their most active threats!
He stopped him tearing him apart 1v1 down the line but that’s like half the defensive job. Saka is more intelligent than that and played around him plenty.
This is the issue. Djed is good 1v1 but he’s not an intelligent defender. We’re too enamoured in England with pace and power. The likes of Saka & Eze played football round him; they didn’t need to stand him up and Doku him. They are infinitely better FOOTBALLERS. Not athletes. Spence is just a way less impressive Walker.
We need a lot more proper footballers at the club.
He’s such a good example of how wanky this fanbase is when a player has a handful of good games. Anyone who doubted him was getting tagged after a good game or two. After a good three or four games he was the best English fullback.
Players get too much hype & unearned praise so quickly. Like when Bissouma started off well and was better than Rice. Or Van De Ven being one of the world’s best, Udogie the best left back.. etc etc etc.
