Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Running in circles is unfair. Domn is a pressing machine

if he posts those numbers with his workrate we’ll have done alright

The argument/excuse that he doesn't get the numbers is that he is too tired from the pressing.
You also have to ask and look at how effective is his pressing?
How many times does it actually make a difference.

Nothing highlighted the daftness of some of Ange's thinking more than Solanke.
Is there another top club who would pay top money for a striker because of his pressing?
You could get a youth player to do it - it does not require any skill.

Our best player last season despite our bad EPL form and his injuries.
I'm expecting a dozen EPL goals this season.

You funny.
Bonehead (sic) was told "It's easy writing big hits for Oasis. You're just copying The Beatles."
He replied "Well, you do it, then."

Let’s give him game time under a decent coach and then decide!

Acceptable would be 20 goals and assists anything less is below par . Whether he tires himself out running around in circles without the ball or not.
Do you mean a combined 20 goal contributions or are you saying 40 goal contributions is the minimum required? If the latter then only Salah hit that mark last season (29 goals, 18 assists = 47 goal contributions). No one else got close (Isaak with 29 goal contributions was the next closest).

Yeah, kindly stop posting because your posts are worthless.

Thanks for popping in though.

No need to reply. I make it a rule not to converse with goons. And no, this isn't me conversing with you. This is me telling you.

Bye.

For a team that came 17th in the league to have 5 players who each registered 20+ goal contributions is phenomenal. Especially when you consider most of them had a significant injury at some point.

The issue with our attack and Tbh the system in general wasn’t the goals, it was their ability to keep the ball when we’d committed bodies forward

Our wide forwards especially were criminals for giving the ball away at the worst moment leaving us easy to play through and also pressing over aggressively when there was no MF set behind them,

We also struggled at the back post because Ange didn’t want them to track back and help the FB.

None of that was a weakness that Solanke had. If anything we were better for all those weaknesses when he played.

If it was me, I’d give Solanke a new contract to match our better paid players and the likes of Watkins and then tell him to act like a more selfish CF. Hes more than capable of another 20 goal PL season this year

Sides who gave us space. How many of the goals againnst the particular teams you mention won us points?

I think Solanke is good. Nothing more nothing less. It's not about service or any other clap trap. He is a good PL striker, trying to do the hardest thing in top level football.

Said it before but on goals alone, Richarlison is better but so what when the bloke is often injured.

We need another striker who is more potent than Solanke, if we want to finish in the top 6 next season, and to do anythjng else of note, in my opinion. In addition to Solanke, and not as his replacement.
Solanke £65m
Richarlison £60m

Not money well spent, which seems to definitely be a Spurs thing i.e. spending plenty of cash on players that turn out not to be worth it (Ndombele, Soldado, Janssen, Sissoko, Sanchez).

Value for money isn't a Spurs thing. The players we buy, the ticket prices, the merchanise - you name it, we don't do VFM.

Surely solanke needs a second season under a proper coach before anyone can be using the flop word.
Richarlison has been unlucky ( killed with injury) . When he was actually fit and playing he posted decent numbers.

Let’s see how gyokeres gets on at Woolwich. He didn’t pull up trees at Coventry, nobody in the premier league wanted him and he is more than decent in a lesser league in Portugal.
They are going to pay 70 million for him.
Looks like 50 million is the new 30 million these days.

I think we can all agree that in an ambitious team that plays with one ST we'd expect that ST to score a minimum of 15 PL goals and to notch 20+ in all comps. Last season he was 9 and 15 respectively. Can do (will do) better. Less unnecessary (lone) pressing, stay within the width of the posts, come alive in the box and get on the end of things is what I bet Frank tells him. Also, he scored twice as many headers at Bournemouth, maybe if we crossed the ball aerially a little more?
