Why are people trying to conspiracy-theorise that it's more? I mean it's not as though he'd be our first player to have an innocuous short-term injury that keeps him out for most of the season, we seem to be experts at that.

That's not certain. It just means that having Tel as an option for 3 matches is a better choice than maybe having Solanke available for 2 matches.

Had Frank simply said Solanke has had an operation on his ankle, with no timescale on a return, then there would be less debate.

I think if a footballer had come out as gay and the reaction was really negative, then I think it would be an inhibitor. I also think that it would be more difficult in the current climate than maybe 18 months ago.

Lots of similar rumours and then some when Lamela signed for us and then was MIA for almost the entire season. Never any solid reason as to why.

When Lamela had his year+ long injury lay off one of the conspiracy theories that rolled around various Spurs groups was that he was gay and/or in the process of a sex change.
A completely unfounded theory of course but the dregs of the internet ran with it.
