Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

A good question, as we should all ask based on what.

Perception, looking at Solanke and other clubs, the transition from smaller club to big club. Injuries and games missed. How demanding Solanke is in games of his team mates. Leadership.

It's really difficult to pin down and it's absolutely about my view as opposed to someone else's. I might be wrong but it's my assertion.

I think Solanke has the game and the talent to make a bigger difference for us than he does. The reason he doesn't is in my opinion, mentality. Nothing else.

Case in point. Last season. Europa final. Fluffed his one chance. Calmness under that pressure. Absent .

It's weird because Kane also falls short, but only on the very biggest moments. This season Kane and Bayern might just surprise.

Trying to recall this?

Tbh, from that, I’m not getting that it’s based on much more than a feeling.

Injuries have been Solanke’s issues for us.

His performances when he’s fit are the reason he’s ahead of Watkins for England now imo

Mate, everything is a feeling. The difference with me is that often I woll try and explain it and invariably leave it.

Nothing proves my opinion right but equally just saying Solanke doesn't have a mentality issue doesn't validate that assertion neither.

It's in the very big box of unknowns.

No problem for me.

You have to shoot to call that a missed shot.

He got how footing wrong, I don’t know how that translates to mentality though...?

And it might not, depending on who you are.

I really enjoy sport. The rivalry. The intensity. The capacity for calm in moments of great stress.

I live in Earlsfield, near Tooting. Jimmy White was my favourite snooker player. Fantastic talent but world title - nope. Mentality. And White had some great chances.

The very best players in all sport have this undefined, hard to pinpoint mentality. And then a select group have even more. It's unreal.

So I view much on the basis of the metric that applies around mental strength.

It's why Sunday is impossible to judge on how it will go, because our mentality over the last 2 years has taken a battering, but if we can win.....

So on Solanke, just my take.

And why I think Archie Gray is a possible star. Something about his mindset.

It's people like you defending this pathetic sicknote who are the problem. Always happy to accept mediocrity.

Solanke should be training with the under 12's after the way he binned off the NLD with a cough. We need players who are willing to fight for the cause, Solanke clearly isn't.
ridiculous. You obv hate him for some bizarre reason.

I don;t debate with deranged people. It's like mud wrestling a pig.

Fuck off Pig, on IGNORE

Fair enough

But if you are going to say a player has a mentality issue, it’s reasonable for people to wonder where you get that from

The club needs to be firm with Solanke and all players.

We need all our players but if they aren't fit to start this Sunday then there should be no way any can join international teams. It's pure bullsh!t.

If Solanke isn't available for Sunday then he should be stopped from joining the England squad.

If he's not fit for Sunday then he shouldn't be allowed to join up with England

I can only assume it's touch and go because if it were more than minor Solanke could easily have advised Tuchel that he won't be available.

Who fcuking knows, other than Solanke’s availability in this match would surely have helped us, in both boxes.

Just doesn't seem able to stay fit. Not what we need.

Love Dom when he's fit, but If Newcastle make a hand bid, let them have him and promote Lankshear.

Hmmmmmm...

Not if it's another team though!

No idea why ypu say Newcastle as opposed to any side who meets a club valuation.

Promoting Lankshear doesn't seem to improve us in the slightest, so I don't understand that thinking per se.

No doubt at all that Howe has been disappointed with Wissa, and maybe the young German is just finding the transition to the PL and weight on his shoulders a bit too much for now.

Solanke needs to stay fit but that looks less and less likely, and I just think we need a better main striker, although I would keep Solanke, plus a better striker if that was within the club's gift.

Looks like Tuchel thinks Solanke overtook Watkins for second choice behind Kane

Hardly. A lot of players in that squad are players being given a last chance to impress, many won’t be on the plane come World Cup day.

Watkins has been poor and it’ll be a wake up call but his actual tournament squad will reflect who he thinks is where in the pecking order.

I mean Dominic Calvert Lewin, for fucks sake..
