Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought he was poor first half, unable to hold the ball up and impact the game.

He was better in the second half. Better on the ball, even took the Roma player on and beat him out wide. Really unlucky to not score. He did pretty much everything right.

Should've played in Maddison instead of taking that silly low percentage shot.
These small moments, like son missing a sitter to put us 3-1 up

I'd literally wanna kill some of these guys if I was the manager with my job on the line

He almost reminds me a bit of Soldado in his first season.

Soldado’s link up play and how he brought other players into the game was excellent, and we all assumed the goals will just naturally arrive. They never did.

Similar with Solanke, his all round game is pretty good, but the reality is he’s a 60 million striker. Is he ever going to be a consistent goal threat to back that up? I’m really not so sure.

Can't score if his life depend on it.......

S'funny; cos he already has 6 goals and 3 assists in 1275mins. (1 contribution every 141mins)

.........Perhaps you're just talking shit.

With another 28 league games + cups to play; one can well imagine he'll hit 15 G + 10 A which will be a good 1st season..... Especially cos we don't create much for him.

How many goals would he need to score to be considered a goal threat?

At the moment he's on track to get around 15-20 goals in the league this season. When you add his all round game to that I'd say that's a pretty good return.

Nothing like Soldado. Lazy comparison.

Don't think he's really a problem. He can score 15-20 league goals and his hold up and work-rate is really good. With a couple of genuinely creative, threatening wide players next to him he fits really well. Two wingers who take people on, who create as well as just tap in chances. Proper modern wide players. Today he's alongside a """winger"""" who is basically a poacher and a Son who we all know is past his best and can't do the traditional winger stuff.

If we had two wingers doing the job of a winger as well as Solanke is doing the job of a traditional 9, we'd be fine. He's never gonna be Kane level, or even the tier below tbf, but he's doing his role competently. Not clinical at all though, but then never really was.

If he ends up with 15-20 goals, that would be an excellent return.
As it stands he’s got 4.

Nope

PL - 4 goals and 2 assists
EL 2 goals and 1 assist

So 6 goals and 3 assists so far ( 9 goal involvements) - so well on track to get 15 goals plus a handful of assists this season.

Getting 20+ goal involvements will be good - and by the way all of Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson and Son are on about 9 goal involvements so far this season, sharing out Spurs offensive threat. And getting 5 players getting similar goal involvement stats is unusual - even in peak Poch we only had 4 with 20+ goal involvements (Kane, Son, Eriksen and Dele) .
