He's fine for a mid-table team (which we are now) but he will never get close to being an elite level striker.
Decent player I think but not worth what we paid. Our recruitment has been nothing short of horrendous for the past 5 or so seasons. Until we improve there we are going nowhere.

The system that suits him is creating tap ins - that system suits a lot of players.
It's obvious he is a very limited player.
When have any of our strikers (Richie, Son etc) gotten service?
Why does the excuse of "he doesn't get service" only apply to Solanke?
When Richie or Son don't score when playing striker the narrative is "ohhh they don't get in to right positions" or "the don't have #9 instinct" etc
As opposed to Harry Kane, yes.
But for the money we spent in the current market he is right where he should be in terms of ability. With service will score 15-20 goals every season.
This could be said about a lot of strikers, even mediocre ones that don't cost 60 million
Point me to a single pass he received tonight in a goal scoring area. I remember one cross that he was pushed over by Chalobah in the box (foul anywhere else on the pitch but probably not enough for a pen) and that was literally it

Only way he was going to get the ball tonight was to do a Kane and drop deep for it, because I can count on two fingers the quality crosses we got into the box, failed to beat the first man on most crosses and corners. Sonnys delivery was shit and Odebert kept cutting inside.
If you are holding a position up top and trying to press and harry the defenders and you don't get the ball I'm not sure what you are supposed to do.
He doesnt have the ability of a Kane to drop deep and create for others, he is a penalty box striker.
Gary Lineker made a career out of that (not that I'm saying Solanke is near that level)

I agree- Solanke is fine. The system is shit. Everyone looks pretty mediocre playing in it, and that's that.
Solanke will look much better when we get a real manager in again.

Our big money recruitments have been horrendous. They are supposed to take you to the next level but ours always land us in the shit and we sell them on for peanuts.

He was playing out of his skin last season at Bournemouth, but i don't think he will be able to replicate it. One good season and we paid a fortune for him. That was a risky move.

Ange probably directed both signings. Solanke would be a fine purchase but we have no ability to create for him right now.
