Scapegoat? There are too many issues for one guy to be a scapegoat. He is not a top 4 striker. Far from it. Having a striker who provides "works hard, presses well" and very little else, is for teams that are set up to avoid relegation. He is a Shane Long. No shame in that. But 60 million pounds and the main man for a team with trophy ambitions - nah.

I honestly don't believe any judgement can be made on this guy whilst we play a loose , disjointed and fragmented game that doesn't even start to work to his strengths . The fact that he has put aside his usual style of forward play to work bloody hard for the team speaks volumes for him .
Once he gets players feeding him correctly then he will show his worth .

Agree.

Thick Dundee has got them so frightened about what is happening behind them that they can't really execute what's in front of them.

Iraola got 19 goals out of Dom. Im
Not 100% sold on Iraola quite yet, but he and managers like Frank (that's the pond we fish in now) would play to our strengths and our strikers would score.

Dom has had to do better in moments but largely it's systemic

Limited, boring bang average player.
Can run without the ball - but not with it .
You know one thing I’ve noticed is that none of players seem to run with the ball to break/counter at speed - So if none of our players seem to be doing it with any regularity it must be Ange-ball clown instructions to make short pointless passes constantly even if with chances to break - Honestly not judging any of our players under this amateur/out of his depth manager with his pub league tactics

He is average. Not a bad player but he is a 30m striker and can play for a midtable team or can be a squad player for a top 6 team. 65m for Solanke is a ridiculous waste of money. You spent 120m euros for Solanke and Johnson: crazy.

inflated prem league prices, look at west ham asking 85 mill for Kudus. 50 mill for Johnson, you have to spend alot more to get real quality from other prem clubs.
Much better value abroad

Completely disagree... is he Salah, Haaland, Isak??? No, but he is a damn sight better than Shane Long. Was he worth 60m? No, but that is the premium you pay when you buy English in the last knockings of the transfer window. The transfer fee is not his fault. Judge him when we have a competent coach who can get the best out of him or when he undoubtedly moves to Everton, bangs in 20 goals and fires them into the top eight in his first season.

His record throughout his career suggests he is a Shane Long.
He is nearly 28 and has had one good season.
But as with Soldado and Jaansen he did not pass the eye test. Most of his goals are tap ins.

Veliz is the same you can see from his YouTube highlights he is pony.

£160m for Richarlison, Solanke and Johnson is a joke and is partly the reason we are where we are.
Technically ability should be the first criteria - all three have relatively limited amounts.

Personally I kinda like him, could've done worse and also better, but absolutely nothing suggests that he is a £65m player. Or ever will become a top player at 27 years old. Meh.

What you really want for that money is a talent like Isak. Like fucking Newcastle managed to do a couple of years ago.

Yeah plus gets the service and the ball he’s been left isolated on so much games he’s struggling and makes him look like he’s no up to much , don’t think that’s the case he competent enough works hard

What are you saying about Shane Long - ROI legend, up there with Tony Cascarino (although not strictly Irish) 🤔

I think for a period Solanke was very good for us, but since these tactics from the manager have been properly exposed he's looked very ineffectual.

No doubt there's a good player there but the set up is god awful.

Solanke does pass the eye test and shouldn't be ranked amongst the other two, pretty obvious there's a player in there but we've done our darn hardest all season to play against his natural strengths.

He's on a damn island up there on his own, he hasn't got any wingers tucking him to play with him because they're hugging the wing, he doesn't have Maddison because he's always too deep, he doesn't have anyone to play off unlike at Bournemouth where he has players surrounding him

Football isn't rocket science, the Solanke you've seen all season is a product of the system which does t suit him and now he's playing like everyone else in the team, directionless and disinterested because of the management and setup.

True. PL market is inflated and you should stay away. Solanke, Johnson, Richarlinson: crazy waste of money. You should recruit abroad, but i see you are following Dibling for a ridiculous price, so you haven't lean.

Right

I'll remember this page (126) and remind all the naysayers how they dissed him. "30m striker" etc. Come on guys, fill yer boots.

If we actually created chances for him, if we actually put crosses into the box, if we actually played to his strengths, if we used him as a target man, then I don't see why he wouldnt be worth 60m as we ought to be top 5 and CL with all that entails.

We have a clown as a manager, and the players have stopped running for him. Not entirely, but enough not to create space for each other. The cunt of a manager has set him up to fail with his lunatic tactics and bonkers formations. That's Solanke's biggest problem.
