Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You clearly know more about football than me. Naively, I mistakenly thought Solanke was brought in to score goals. Silly old me.
I agree we need a 20+ goal centre forward but apart from kane and Haaland I haven't seen many and the most of the league needs one. Hopefully Solanke can add more goals when we are better as a team.

My point was Solanke couldn't be where Porro was because Solanke started the move

Solanke has to make the run that creates the space for Johnson's chance last night and Johnson's first goal vs Southampton. It's a selfless role for a striker in this system. Last thing you need when you are putting the team first like that, is the fans being cunts because you aren't getting chances to score.

Good piece, and absolutely no one can fault his work rate. He also does plenty of good meat and potato stuff. I just think he’s just a little bit lacking in that ultimate quality at times. He’ll fluff a finish, not see a pass, or very occasionally miss control when holding up.

I like him though, like what he does for the team. What he does do is vital to the way we “want” to play.

Yup - fluffing finishes, not seeing passes and miscontrolling the ball - it seems to be The Spurs Way nowadays.

He’s doing as well as I expected. It’s Dominic Solanke not Batistuta.

It seems to me most people disappointed in him thought we were getting a 19 goals a season for Bournemouth striker who therefore would be getting 20 plus goals a season for us. Disregarding the fact that one season was an outlier in his overall numbers.

He’s ok, nothing special. Would be helpful if he could stay fit but at least he’s not Richarlatan which is really his main asset.

Woolwich do better playing with a dm as CF.
The idea that you have to play with a player like Solanke is laughable.
Porro could be better up front

If you're not making loads of chances - don't play him

This is dumb. He's quite a good striker ... he's neither very bad not very good. Woolwich don't do better with a DM at striker, they struggle in a lot of low block type games because of it.

Solanke has elite hold up play and physicality but has really disappointed so far at other stuff. Remains to be seen if its system related or him. There have been clear flashes of quality. I think we can all safely say 65m was probably us overpaying for mid tier quality (again) but it doesn't mean he's rubbish.

He doesn't score enough goals. Period. It needs to improve.

It's incredibly rare that he gets played in on his feet. No one delivers him aerial service. No through balls to him except to chase out wide.

Our offensive play is horrific. Solanke is not a one-man offense kind of player. He actually showed some promising flashes of it yesterday as he saw nobody around him was doing anything useful. Might be the start of something new actually. Hope so.

He'll be much improved the day we get a new manager that can get him some proper service.

If you have a striker that can only really score from very good chances - and you are not making very good chances. There is little point in playing him . Instead d add another creative player. Like playing Kulu as a false nine. You are likely to create more chances that way.- and you may get a bt of magic - which you will not get from Solanke.

Everyone keeps saying we are not playing to his strength's ( creating easy chances ) that is not likely to change.
I would not say his hold up pay is élite - it's decent to average for a PL striker.
Overall most teams we have played this season have better forwards than Solanke

He needs to do better.
