It’s a completely over the top punishment.
So a sham in the bushes with a pair of binoculars has seen what ?
A bit of training drill… oooh they might play 442 or 433…… something they can adapt too in about 5 minutes in the game.
I watched those games an boro lost over two legs cause they were shite.

The play-off final is the most lucrative one-off game in professional sport . Anywhere in the world.

It might seem harsh ; but I can see why they’ve done it , if I’m being honest .

If it was just a once off then I would agree but they admitted to doing it 3 times and in all likelihood they did it more but could only be proved they did it 3 times. For me it's the amount they did it that means they should be punished this harshly.
The punishment definitely outweighs whatever benefit they got from it but that's the risk they took.

Think it's fair personally

Apparently the EFL has evidence of them doing it multiple times, not just this ocne.

It just say cheating.... it doesn't say you have to be successful at cheating !

I think the rule is teams aren't allowed to go to opponents training sessions within 72 hours of a match between the two teams.

Well West Ham will have a 4 point advantage over them next season then

Southamptons players possibly taking legal action for loss of earnings against club as promotion denied

I don’t have an issue with them being kicked out, they have repeatedly done this during season. They have gained sporting advantage, the punishment should be sporting.
The fans suffer, but might never have been in the play offs anyway without the cheating.
And fuck SCBC anyway

Punishment is harsh but fair imo. If they'd gained a competitive advantage illegally that's deserving of serious punishment, especially given what's at stake in the play-offs.

If there weren't gains to be made they wouldn't bother doing it.

If they know exactly who's starting for the opponents, their system, their set-piece routines - any of those can materially impact the outcome of the match if Saints then focus their prep and training around that information.

Idiots no doubt could've won without cheating, though. The risk wasn't remotely worth the reward and they weren't even careful about it.

Imagine they also admitted to spying the scum training for the FA Cup game. Then they decided to replay the semis again. Lol. Wouldn't be shocked for that to happen just to land the scum with another trophy as much as possible.
:vinai:
