The biggest issue is simply we have no visible system. You can have a bunch of average players but if the system is good and the manager a good motivator you can generate chances not by the just having good individual players but by the system.

We are totally reliant on players doing individual things, last night both Foden and Bowen simply tried to create by beating multiple players but that doesn’t really work unless you are Maradona on a consistent basis. It’s like AVB with Bale but Bale had exceptional pace and long range shooting, a unique player.

If alarm bells don’t ring or should I say scream in your head for Southgate’s tactics then I question how much you have watched football. Everything screams terrible management.
It’s coaching not management, his management is ok. He’s also doing the age old thing of selecting players on rep, not on how they fit into a system and complement each other

He will change shit up now and might get lucky, there’s enough good players there to fluke upon a system - as above, needs Wharton, a leftie on the left and a runner up top

I'm getting really fucking bored of the players all coming out with the same old tried and tested lines:

"We're in a good position"

"We've not lost yet"

"There are no easy games in international football"

They're all singing from the same media hymn sheet - and Kyle Walker even had the nerve to get angry with the pitch reporter who suggested the performance may have not been the best.

It's just excuse after excuse. We may not have lost in the match last night, but if that match was in the knockout stage, is there one person in the entire universe that thinks we wouldn't have gone out on penalties last night. It was as good as a loss.

Last 16 or quarters is the level we're at at this point in time and if we'd have been in a group D, B or F then we wouldn't have made it out the group stage.

Bellingham dodging a lot of criticism. He was anonymous last night. How he stayed on the pitch the whole game is a mystery.
He was anonymous....but even worse....he looked like he didn't want to be there and his attitude was shit.

Three or four times he went over cheaply in the centre circle and just sat there for 30 seconds to a minute doing nothing but whinge while play was still going on around him.

Championship / League one level manager gets found out at the Euros, what a surprise. It's almost criminal to go to a tournament with an extremely talented squad and Southgate being the manager, the FA deserve a lot of criticism as well.

In a way it would be almost better for us to fall out in the group stage to get this clown out then fall out at the quarters and Southgate somehow remain. England can’t go on with this total shitshow of tactics, it’s a horrible waste of a very talented group of players. Southgate cannot be here beyond this tournament. Total reliance on individual moments of brilliance is not good football or good management.

Play Gordon. Or play Watkins with Kane.

Play only one of Bellingham and Foden. Actually play balls forward and wide.

If Kane drops deep, players need to push on and run so he can find them. Only Saka was doing it.

If Kane stays up you need to find him. Only Bowen did it against Serbia.

You can't play a RB at LB, especially if he's only going to go to the corner of the 18 yard box and check back. It’s like a reverse Deki without the swinging in. Not taking any other LBs is criminal. As was not taking Grealish.

I don’t like the criticism Kane is getting. He is being told to play as far forward as possible but then gets no service apart from Pickford hoofs. Even the goal he got yesterday only came to him via deflections.

Kane Bellingham Foden walk in to any other European team. The likes of Rice isn’t in the same class as Rodri or kroos. Pickford aint Donnarumma. Saka is nowhere near as good as Williams, Sane, or a whole host of wide players. Compare our back four with either the Spanish or the Italians. We just ain’t as good as we think we are and worst of all Southgate it at Plymouth level

The Denmark performance honestly broke me a bit. I'm always positive for international tournaments because they come about rarely and just for international footy I allow myself to dream. But it was abysmal.

How slow and tentatively we do fucking everything is hideous to watch. Every touch or pass looks like a challenge. Compare that to how Spain knock it about and progress with speed. Its like watching two different sports.

From top to bottom its clogball. And I'd have some faith if we were playing it but had the players for it, but we don't. So we're now just sort of extremely middling with no real strengths but good enough to scrape through most matches. Fucking horrible shite.

Even my American wife, who watches about 2 games a year said 'what is this shit we are watching'

Just pure lazy analysis. We hear it every year saying that he should be dropped for Vardy, Calvert Lewin, Wilson and now Watkins, always the same thing every tournament.

People don't really understand that Southgate ball needs Kane because his team always drop back and he takes pressure off by holding the ball up, it's almost as if they think that players like Watkins is gonna be darting in behind in every attack like some FIFA shit which is pretty funny seeing as the same people will bemoan us for not keeping the ball, what do you think is going to happen when Watkins plays with his back to goal to relieve pressure and his midfield is 20 yards away from him?

Typical British mentality that though, if all else fails go for the ball over the top to relieve pressure instead of playing out from the back, it's as if we haven't learnt anything over the past 20-30 years.

Kane is a very easy scapegoat though because he's not aesthetically pleasing on the eye so when he's off it he looks even worse than he is, people in this country have never really understood a player like Kane so I'm not surprised at the backlash however the way those BBC pundits went at him was ridiculous, it's almost as if they chose him as the scepegoat if it all went wrong before a ball was kicked.

Southgate is gone - he's said as much himself that this is his last chance.

I don't agree on the crashing out though or at least not completely crash out, because then that would give the incoming manager a free pass as it were for more mediocrity as the only way would be up.

He’s so weak.

The problem with Southgate is he doesn’t have the courage of his convictions. He obviously has one game plan, which is the double pivot, but he dare not drop Foden.

He should play Rice/Wharton with Bellingham as the 8 and Saka and Gordon running off Kane. There’s absolutely fuck all pace up front. We probably needed to take Rashford. He’s in terrible form but he could run off Kane.
