Who did Liverpool invest in the last two seasons to win the league?

Without VVD and Salah who they signed years ago, they aren't winning the league man.

They sold Firminho and bought in Nunez, sold Mane and bought in Diaz.... neither contributed to their prem title last year.

I have shown my workings. We dont just buy youth, which is what I was responding to, but you have made this all about something else and are ranting about the same stuff without any nuance or context.

I swear your obsessed and I mean weirdly and completely so obsessed with how much you dislike the owners that you are simply incapable of having a back and forth without leaning into this kind of rant.
Who did Liverpool invest in to win the league during last 2 seasons.

I would say Szobizlai , MacAllister and Gravenberch, their whole starting midfield

Plenty of teams have not been affected by stadium move

Atletico Madrid
Bayern Munich
For a couple of English ones
Brentford
Brighton

And plenty of teams have not been affected by significant expenditure on expanding their ground

Liverpool being the obvious one

The main difference though for the successful ones, is the owners continued funding the team before during and after stadium build, we didn’t shown by the massive PSR/FFP space we have had over the years, showing the underfunding compared to what we could have invested in the team alongside some very poor decisions in respect of recruitment.
What a factually brilliant and superbly written post. 💪

Prepare your self for the inevitable onslaught of blah blah blah whataboutery nonsense in response

Woah, I said I was biased I didn’t say i was inaccurate. Admittedly you said by design but that is horseshit, sometimes people are biased for a good reason . I happen to be one of them imho

Mate, the reality is that you are expressing opinions that they don’t see as welcome on this forum. They will react to it like white blood cells and treat you like a virus.

You’ll get accused of ranting, being biased, a troll, adhd is the latest one.

There are some posters who are a bit OTT on the Levy thing but you definitely aren’t one of them.

In almost every context, injecting bias leads to distortion away from the objective truth.

Research, journalism, data.

I cannot believe this is something even up for debate.

I wouldn't say those players won them the title per-se - they definitely have rebuilt their midfield well, but they won the title because of Salah - the rest of their forward line did virtually nothing.

29 goals and 18 assists - involved in over 50% of their goals - that is frankly astonishing from a single player. Sure he had a more solid base to work from but do you really see those players winning the league with a front line of Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo?

As Trolly McTrollface says in his response, yes this is factually accurate.

AM is a great shout. They’ve won stuff since moving.
BM have always been and will always be the powerhouse of football in their country. They were always going to do well. You could have mentioned Porto, Gala, Benfica, Besiktas and Man City in the same breath. Quite obvious all were going to be a continued success when they moved due to their power in their respective leagues. We aren’t and have not been in that bracket for sixty years.
Brighton and Brentford? Yep, at heights they’ve not been before.

Now for the whataboutery:
Woolwich
West Ham
Derby
Reading
Bolton
Southampton
Huddersfield
Sunderland
Middlesbrough
Coventry
Oxford
Darlington
Cardiff

My knowledge of new stadiums in Europe is sketchy, but Lyon? Juventus when they moved?

Not disputing your fact that we didn’t spend the money we needed to on the squad, just pointing out that maybe we all underestimated how tough a stadium move can be. Unless you are already one of the strongest clubs in a league, or financially doped.

This was considered but in the end was dismissed as not feasible , being hemmed in by Worcester Ave, Paxton and Park Lane didn't help, there was an architects report published years ago giving the exact reasons.

Pointless move anyway seeing as ENIC wouldn't be getting any use out of it, they planned to turn the stadium into a multi event complex, the old stadium still wouldn't have been able to host concerts, boxing, NFL, Go karting etc...nor would it have boosted the local economy, regeneration, increased jobs etc...

All this, plus the wish to massively increase corporate seating, which theoretically, they could have done at WHL, but it would have slashed the capacity.

Had we stayed in the old stadium our match day income doesn't increase and we're perennially capped at a salary budget we won't be able to sustain and money we won't spend.
Think your just knocking your head against a brick wall , people are entrenched in their views and that's it. Every season ticket holder I have spoken to from those paying senior citizen rate of £600 to those paying £1,400 love the stadium and no way would they want to go back to the Old Lane even if results have not been that good in the new place.

Some figures just to show how the stadium has changed the club financially.

Accounts for 2018 last season at WHL , revenue £306.3 million, wage bill was £126.9 million, full time employees 439 , wage /revenue ratio 41.5% , nobody cared about it then as Deloitte never used to include it in their money league.

2025 accounts, revenue £528.2 million, wage bill £221.9 million, full time employees 820, wage/revenue ratio 42 %

On the wage bill front we pay less than Liverpool, Man City and Man U but we pay bigger wages than Newcastle and C Palace and what do us lower payers have in common , we won 🏆🏆🏆

Yeah it's just not realistic.

If folk are complaining about the wages now then imagine if we had stayed in the old stadium lol

Our wages to turnover ratio is currently the lowest in the league at around 42%, our current revenue is around £615m per year according to the latest figures, it was £360m per year in the old stadium, had we stayed in the old stadium the overall revenue would probably max out at around £450m tops, imagine the wage budget we'd have to play with if that was the case haha

Great post and I think what is colouring people's memories about the old stadium was that we had an unforgettable last season and our best season in the Premier League under Poch, people are getting all misty eyed over it because it's a lasting memory and it's all pretty much been downhill since then, completely ignoring the fact that was a one off season which will probably never be repeated again and not even taking into account the financial drawbacks of it.

As per usual a nothing stick to beat Levy with.

We needed a new stadium Levy delivered it . However at a massively inflated price to accommodate NFL , concerts, boxing etc , my disappointment is I don’t see the level of investment promised from the add ons . As for all the other building projects well they definitely are not rocking my world

How did Diaz not contribute to their league title last year?

Think that's a slight exaggeration, yes it cost more than originally predicted but that happens to virtually every construction project ever. The estimated £1 billion building cost would include buying up all the land required for the stadium and Lilywhite House , the land for the hotel and towers already belonged to Spurs, the building cost of those still waiting for external investment.
Compared to other stadiums the cost seems quite reasonable.

Everton
However, this rocketed up to over £800m – as revealed in Premier League documents last year relating to the club’s appeal over their 10-point deduction (later reduced to six) for breaching profit and sustainability rules.
Chelsea (I have just picked a randon headline)
Chelsea believe they have the expertise to make the best decision on a development that is projected to cost at least £2billion, £407m of which has been secured from US hedge fund
