Could a number of deals and sponsorships the club currently has were solely based on Levy's personal contacts and relationships?
Once he was removed, his friends who worked with him on these deals were happy to pull back since they have no ties with anyone currently on the board. I can see such thing happening.

I don't think Vinai is even on Levy's level when it comes to network of power people and will never be able to fill that gap left by Levy's absence.

The Lewis family either too stupid to let Levy go so suddenly without thinking of the consequences, or, (which I think is the more likely scenario) they are about to sell. I don't think they expected a relegation threat. Just wanted to cruise through the season to get it ready for handover. Now the relegation is real and the value is dropping by each day, potential buyers are rethinking their price, fairly so and ENIC cannot argue, and the Lewis kids are hustling around trying to avoid relegation and assure sponsors, partners, and potential buyers that the club is still in solid state (No relegation and back to compete next season for trophies and European places).
This is why them Lewis kids along with the finance people at the club bypassed Vinai and Lange, fired Frank, and went straight to Paratici to secure Tudor. They don't know anyone in Football to talk to, even as simple contact as Harry Redknapp, Sherwood, or anyone in local circles. They lost faith in the two stooges, and can only go back to the remaining football brain who they let go a few days ago)
Now things starting to make sense. There are huge upcoming weeks for this club that could decide it future. Serious stuff I tell you.

Excellent post.

This is based on the very large presumption that Levy actually had friends.

Sounds like the club's in a right mess across all areas
Or at the very least smack dab in a period of massive change and overhaul. Which makes sense given Levy's exit.

Everything ran through him in some way for 15+ years. He had final say and micro managed nearly every department. So in a sense all structure within the club left with him and the club now has to essentially rebuild itself.

So on one level I can understand things being a bit chaotic.

I also think it’s why we are so weak as a club. If you have ever watched the film the death of Stalin after he died nobody knew what to do as they had only ever followed his orders.

A micro managed club hanging on the whim of one man is a fragile place. I suspect the likes of Viv Lewis just thought if Levy goes the people around will pick up but if the people around is the likes of Lange then your fucked.

It goes back to what this club always should have had. A strong DoF aligned with the attacking culture of this club and elite individuals in all departments.

It reflects badly on the Lewis family in that they just thought they could pick up, it reflects badly on Levy in that he left the back office such a fucking mess.

Yup. You either need to replace said strongman with another strongman that has carte blanche to take over completely. Or you need to rip the entire thing up and build something new.

The downside of course is that things can quickly collapse downwards as we are currently experiencing.

The positive is that it can just as quickly turn back around (or at the very least stabilise) once the rebuild takes shape. Our old buddy Damien Comolli has restructured Juventus in like 8 months or so.

I am a pessimist by nature so I suspect that next year may also be a "lean" year as far as trophies and possible league position goes as the new structure keeps solidifying. But moving on from Levy was also needed.

I think they're trying to do this - they cleared out all of Levy's cronies from the board and have brought in all these new execs and Vinai as a CEO. They're clearly trying to modernise the corporate structure in line with other top clubs. Impossible for us plebs to know about the quality of each respective appointment but we seem to be poaching them from the likes of City, so seems legit. I actually have no issues with this side of things, tbh. Seems eminently sensible.

The problem clearly lies on the football side. Vinai seems clueless, Lange is an over-promoted wet-wipe and the attempt to make him and Paratici be dual DoFs was amateurish.

I think the board need to realise they've put far too much trust in the wrong people and start again on the football side. They desperately need a new top quality DoF in place and to either demote or bin-off Lange. And Vinai also either needs to be binned off too or very much defer to the new DoF on footballing matters.

I suspect that this is going to happen and I would be surprised if there isn't talks on going at ownership level about replacing Vinai and Johan. Once the board steps in and overrules you as they have seemingly done with Frank and Tudor it seems near impossible for either of them to return to the norm.

Think there were already reports we're looking for a new DoF to work 'with' Lange.

Bloody hope they're not still trying to make the dual 50/50 DoF thing work as anyone worth their salt will take one look at that set-up and Lange and know we're not a serious operation. Only reason Paratici agreed was clearly cos it was a last minute compromise after Levy promised him the gig. Do they really think someone credible like, say, Luis Campos would willingly work 50/50 with Lange?

They either need to have someone above Lange calling the shots, with him solely focusing on buying kids (which he seems OK at) or preferably they just kick him to the curb.

Sounds like the club's in a right mess across all areas, and relegation might be the trigger for everything to implode.
One Mr Daniel Philip Levy has a lot to answer for.

Years and Years of neglecting the core of the operation, football, while focusing on commercial growth was always ending in disaster.

Years of taking the fans for mugs while using their gullible coin to further his business interests rather than building a team around Kane and Son.

Like building a castle on foundations made of shit.

Some of the more reasoned among us saw this coming for years....while the gullible and naive such as the Aberdeens, Parisiens and Syadyfixxes of this world lapped it in, and sucked it up with fingers in their ears and sand in their fannies.

I think more and more skeletons will be falling out the cupboard over the coming months and years, boys.

And yet some cunt has voted for Enic. Votes have gone up to 70 again.

There certainly is going to be a period of transition and potential upheaval, depending on the state of the organisation left by Levy, but it stands to reason that the club did not expect how poorly Vinai-Lange-Frank would perform in getting us this precariously close to relegation, notwithstanding the ridiculous number of injuries. Hence, it's not surprising that it may have escalated from change and overhaul management to panic stations now.

It sounds a complete mess. Wish they would sell up so we can a get a new identity , sell the majority of the squad and start a fresh .
When you say 'sell the majority of the squad' it's sad to be able to say it, but you are spot on. There's less than a handful of players out of all of them that I'd be bothered about if we sold them. The quality is very mediocre and needs a complete reboot.
