A well-written perspective, in my opinion. The only thing I'd add is that it wasn't entirely a failure to invest, but a failure to do so when needed and on the right players. Unlike other problem clubs that overstretched themselves, we have fallen apart because we felt we could do it all entirely on the safe.

I don’t claim to understand football finances ; BUT I’m guessing that there are very very highly paid people within the ENIC organisation that do .

So answer me this ; how can they have fucked things up to the point that relegation from the Premier League us even a possibility. If money means that much to them ; just HOW have they mis-managed things so much to get to this point ?

It’s a genuine question.

Would arguably constitute the biggest fuck up in professional sports. I think it’s ENIC (1) choosing poorly in appointing Vinai and Lange in the first place and (2) being overly confident in that duo and far too reticent in letting them make poor decision after poor decision.

Frank should have been dealt with earlier, and it looks like Tudor is not the right man for the salvage job. Add the abysmal January window, when we really needed the reinforcements.

What a vile institution ENIC are when you think about it...
A company built purely by and for greed... Grubby little money men want to make more of their beloved grubby green stuff...

Well they can fucking bathe in the 'glory' and shame that they're Quarter of. Century of mismanagement has led us to...

They pretty much started their cursed tenure with the Sol Campbell debacle, and are possibly ending it with relegation....

25 years of greed, stupidity and INEPTITUDE have led us to this point...

They REALLY need to be gone now... Sell to whoever will give you ALL THAT LOVELY LOVELY Important MONEY... THAT'S ALL YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT

Just leave.. . Fuck off and die now please... You've ruined us... Absolutely ruined us!

They likely went into the season with a lot of confidence.

Xavi, Tel, Danso, Palhinha, RKM, Kudus looked like a decent transfer window. Kulu was expected back in October.

Richalison, Romero, VDV, Udogie fit again.

A good performance against PSG. Thrashed Burnley City and West Ham.

There seemed little cause for concern. No stand out players to replace Son and Kane, but an improvement to overall squad quality across the board. Top 5 certainly achievable.

Then it all went south.

Players didn't like the tactics. Injuries once again piled up. Fans turned on the team. The trend was downwards, and it never stopped.

January was time to fix things. Window opened to crickets. Gallagher - a player spurs didn't need and Sousa, a kid. Moves for Seymenyo rejected and no other options considered.

Yeah - I think the squad-building as been disjointed and nonsensical for a long time, but based on our summer business we had the tools to, at least, be comfortably mid-table.

The big mistake Vinai and Lange made was having this pre-conceived notion that giving managers time = being sensible and prudent.

They had decided that it didn't matter how broken things were on the pitch of in the dressing room, they were gonna back their man and plan long term. Vinai had ridden it out with Arteta and seen him turn it around so he tried to repeat the same trick twice - except Frank was shit.

Doubling down in Jan was a huge gamble and one that will taint them and the club for decades if we get relegated. And I think it was largely done for self-gain, ironically. They didn't want to admit their big plan and 'top choice candidate' were a pile of shit so they put it all black and span the wheel, gambling the entire club in the process.

Bad luck has played a big part too. I think many, many clubs would be in a mess with 10+ first team injuries, but that doesn't excuse the utter negligence and complacency from Lange and Vinai.

And even if we were planning long term, buying Gallagher still made no sense. That one especially makes me so angry.

Johnson was a shower of shite but getting rid of him and not bringing in a replacement was so fucking stupid.

It made us a Kudus injury away from being completely and utterly fucked and sure enough…

Lange’s head should have rolled for that, yet that ugly gormless cunt flap is still here stinking the club out.

He and Vinai need to stand down immediately. Give the club a boost by fucking off.

we buy players who are available and will play for wages in our structure rather than established players who fill a specific need. we buy punts. it’s all slapdash rather than calculated to win on the pitch. take n’dombele, sure we spent and gave him a 200k a week, but we could’ve gotten a more proven player for likely less and paid them 300k, but then kane needs a raise etc.. the list is long of players who we either passed on or wouldn’t come to us

Their stupidity exceeds even their greed.

I bet they’re more concerned about the completion of the hotel if we’re relegated than the football club itself . They ain’t finding investors if we’re playing championship football

Admin Admin this poll really should be redone so much has changed since it was last run.

My simple guess is that they are overly hesitant as a general rule, and in the case of the Lewis' not super connected to teh operation of the club given that Collecot (our actual head of finances) having to reportedly round Vinai to get to the Lewis' and explain the financial implications of relegation in order to get Frank sacked.
