So we should be grateful that Levy rectifies a massive error entirely of his own making , rather than say that is the minimum expected of him, that he cleans up his own mess
Except that nobody's even said that.

"Levy, for the love of God, sack Jose"
Levy sacks Jose and........ nothing.

"Levy, stay out of transfers"
Levy gets a DoF and....... nothing .

Everything bad is Levy's fault.
Everything good is luck, or down to someone else.

23 years, 1 trophy.

Incredible stadium, incredible training ground but the budget/policy for managing the football side of things needs to change if they are really about winning. Right now it looks like they are too comfortable charging big money for tickets and delivering top 4 intermittently.

It has changed, what don't you get.

A DoF in place for transfers, new stadium revenue, 3rd in spending the last two years.

Of course nobody said thanks Levy for cleaning your own mess up

Ref DOF we would be thanking him pretty regularly, Arnesen, Commoli , Baldini and now Paratici , none of which has yet delivered success
Levy has wanted a DOF not only some fans , none have lasted or been a success , but here we go

Thanks Daniel for unsuccessfully trophy wise implementing , discarding ,implementing, discarding , implementing , discarding and implementing your preferred strategy with a DOF
Admittedly Arnesesn walked on him rather than being discarded

Wrong.

I'll post this again;

Spence is an investment of the club,” Conte said. “The club wanted to do it. I said okay, this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us.

Paratici scouted him, the club asked Conte "Shall we sign him ?"

Conte said "OK"

How people can interpret that as Spence being signed against Conte's wishes I've no idea.
' Djed Spence in the summer, a player signed by managing director of football Fabio Paratici and his scouting department purely because they felt he ticked every box for a Conte wing-back.'
Further proof nothing to do with Levy.

Not 3rd in Spending this year. Why the random cherry pick of stats for last 2 years. Spurs achieved top 4 under Conte and instead of pushing on, they have been blown out the water by UTD, Chelsea, and Liverpool now. Even West Ham and Newcastle invested more in the Summer, then of course the gooners that were behind us and lead the net spend in the league over the last 2 years.

DOF is a good change I agree. Scouting is working better. Is it enough? Or are they choking another opportunity to really have a go??

So like I said,
Everything bad = Levy
Everything good = not Levy

Because the stadium has only been open, with fans, for the last two years.
It's not rocket science.

Utd and Liverpool have higher revenue than us.
Newcastle are now an oil club with the cheat codes.
Chelsea's new owners had to invest due to the terms of their buyout. Let's see how they are in a year or two.
Woolwich are on the brink of breaking FFP, if they don't get CL football next season they're fucked.

Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham all behind us in the table.
West Ham are 16th FFS !
So out of all the clubs you mentioned only one, a pumped up fake oil club, are above us in the table.

But lets SpEnD MoRe MoNeY rather than concentrate on getting the right players such as Kulu and Rodders.

Everyone had a stadium closed during covid.

Kulu and the Tanc were great singings. Paratici and his network are great at identifying players. If they were priced closer to their real value we’d have never been able to afford them within the current model.

You’ve listed a bunch of great excuses/reasons why the club can’t compete financially with other clubs, the fans don’t get to give excuses/reasons when they can’t pay the highest ticket prices in the world.

The only thing he has done that could be put forward as a success is the stadium , the footballing side is abject failure considering length of tenure .

A stadium that ran late, ran over massively over budget , that as yet has no naming rights, so hardly an unqualified success
The only thing ?

So raising us from a mid table club to regular CL participants is a bad thing.

Ok.

LOL are we already using the "pumped up fake oil club" excuse for Newcastle when they've got Eddie Howe on probably a fraction of what Conte is on, and have added about 200 million worth of players to a team who were bottom of the league?

They've just been ran better than us since the new owners came in. They haven't done anything we couldn't do.

Now you have introduced a new topic. The lack of a trophy. Now I agree that Levy has not helped with the quest for a trophy. I do not think there is a quest for a trophy. I think it was Mourinho that let it slip that whilst there was a big bonus for getting top 4 there was very little for winning a trophy. From the players attitudes highlighted in the Conference last season, I assume they have little bonus for winning a trophy as well.
Fans including probably the majority on here have less interest in winning a trophy. Previously there have been discussion about winning a trophy compared to top 4 and the majority go for top 4. The Media and opposition fans taunt us for the lack of a trophy but there has to be a major attitude change in the club for that to happen. Poch and other Managers have played weaken teams in cup matches and we have lost. This has to change or the quest for a trophy will continue. Already some posters are calling for fringe players to play in the F A Cup this year and we could easily go the same way as the League cup. With no realistic hope of winning the PL or CL that will end this year's quest. It sends out the wrong message to the players and they need to be told in no uncertain terms that winning a trophy is important. However that is Conte. Paratici & Kane's job and not Levy's We simply have not turned up in major Cup matches.
In 1991 it was very different. Gazza our best player had injury problems and missed a lot of league matches towards the end of the season but was always played in the F A Cup leading to us winning it. This would never happen now and he would have played in the league matches and we would never have made the final.
So I accept that Levy has hindered our pursuit of a trophy but it is also successive Managers and players attitudes that is also the problem.

Nobody had a new stadium that would treble their revenue waiting to be filled.

So you don't think it's fact that Utd and Liverpool have higher revenues than us and can therefore spend more ?

Or that Chelsea and Newcastle are artificially pumped ?

Or that we above all the teams you mentioned bar one in the table ?

It'll be much easier if you only type
"SpEnD MoRe MoNeY" every time you post.
At least then everyone will know what you really mean.

So we should have appointed Howe instead of Conte?

I'd swap in an instant and am on record wanting Howe before he joined Newcastle. I wanted a long term, project manager, not some glitzy, overpaid short-term fix ala Jose. Conte is much better than Jose but he's not right for this type of club and never will be imo.

We'll continue to get below par football but won't get the trophies that come with it. We'd have been better off investing in a coach who would give young players a chance & try to play a more progressive brand of football.

You've just answered your own question.

There's no way they'd have been able to do that without oil money.

Ok????

We spent what, 180-190 million, on players with higher wages? And hired one of the best paid managers in the league? All added to a squad which finished fourth and boasted the most productive attacking duo in PL history.

So no, the 'oil money' excuse won't wash. I don't care about moral grandstanding, they've used the resources they have better than us.

Would you prefer to have had Leicester’s last ten years or ours . I would have preferred League title and FA cup triumph. They came from a far worse place in half the time , so forgive me for not thinking Levy has done a great job he has not .

As I said previously challenging for a league title and he gave Harry 36 year old New Zealand journeyman Ryan Nelsen and broken man of glass Saha , it says it all
