Hi everyone

Say hi to the newest Levy lover on this forum.

WPHIII

Well either that or newest gooner. One of the two.

Levy is obviously not going to stand down and there doesn't seem to be any billionaires waiting to buy us.

I'm kind of curious though as to what the sucession plan is. If he got hit by a bus tomorrow who is next in line at enic? Is it levy choosing to keep all the clubs cash in a scrooge mcduck style money vault or is it enics strategy? Would his second in command be any different?

If we're claiming 13 semi finals being some sort of success then we're really really scraping the barrel.

You're all over the place. First of all not winning trophies is ok because only the elite wins them. Now its not even a measure of success at all.

We're just a perennial mid table side which doesnt win trophies but we pay more than anyone except the Goons for our tickets.

You accept this mediocrity? Fine.

Just accept that some of us are getting bored of paying for champagne and getting Happy Shopper Cider.
It helps your argument to deal in absolutes and mischaracterise what others are saying.

Winning trophies since ENIC took over has become harder. The two most successful teams since ENIC took over only started winning things in the last 21 years - Chelsea and Man City. They’ve won more PL titles than everyone else combined during the time ENIC have been involved. A third of domestic cups.

Now throw in the traditional big 3 - United, Liverpool and Woolwich and it’s a fact that everyone is feeding off scraps.

How many domestic titles do you think have been won by a side not in that big 5 since we last won a trophy?

Out of 60 titles…

So it’s a fact that trophies have become extremely concentrated as wealth has increased. You can notice the same wealth inequality in western societies too.

And at the same time the best measure of performance requires the largest possible sample size and that clearly comes from a league campaign. That is extremely basic statistics.

It’s possible for teams to get very lucky and do well in the cups (like when we get to a CL final) in a way that isn’t as easy in the league.

Merch has always been pricey. But apply the math to season ticket prices over an equivalent duration and you'll find a man who prioritises revenue growth over fan accessibility.

Now chart our 'progress' regarding PL results and you'll notice we're just as inconsistent as the 2005 - 2010 period. The difference is that back then there was progress because we ultimately qualified for the CL for the first time. But this past five years has been a period of instability, which raises concerns about long-term planning and squad depth, among other issues.

Time marches on. Other clubs are edging to take our place. The football is atrophying under this chairman and that is the main fact that a great many fans wish to address. Don't be surprised to see the word 'cunt' flying around. You stand still on the pitch, the opposition scores the goal and the fans get mad. Likewise in the planning.

You can argue about the price of merch, or laud Levy's supposed successes but that has no bearing on the present or the future. He's not shitting. He needs to get off the pot.
I was responding to someone else’s claim. I don’t think merch prices are a concern.

Just to track the state of Levy apologia, we're now on "only very slightly worse than the Sugar years" as a defense?

Fuck me, Ange could set up a better defense than that :ange-facepalm:
Sugar wasn’t in charge for 25 years. It includes our most successful period in the cups ever (80s through to 91) so is a very unfavourable sample size for anyone else to live up to.

Absolute incredible lengths people will go to to justify mediocrity fair play.

The leagues best paid chairman delivers absolutely nothing in terms of a football clubs primary objectives and you've got people falling over themselves to defend it.

Fucking hell.

It would probably be his son. Not sure to what extent, if any, Lewis' family are still involved.

Same as every club outside of the top 5. Occasionally wins and the rollercoaster.

You sound like a 12 year old glory hunter.
You are not as bright as you like to think you are , in fact you are nowhere near as bright as you like to think you are . Glory hunters be they 12 or 90 do not support Spurs never have done . Anyone who knows anything about the club and its fan base would know that .

If you are going to be condescending always best not to make yourself look a pillock when you do it

When I was eight years old, we beat Man City in the cup final. I had decided to support whoever won. Pretty well defined glory hunter.

Top 5, give me a fucking break.

It would be a colossal failure on Levy's part if we had become uncoupled from the elite of the sport financially.

Luckily for him that's completely untrue. Spurs ARE in the financial elite of the game.

But among that elite, there is one singular club that is most unwilling to press that advantage into its squad.

It's the same club that has always prioritized league position above the cups.

It's the same club whose chairman has been unwilling to provide stable and consistent support to proper football people and allow them to do their jobs.

If those things weren't true there would be trophies in the cabinet over the last 20 years.
