Top 5, give me a fucking break.

It would be a colossal failure on Levy's part if we had become uncoupled from the elite of the sport financially.

Luckily for him that's completely untrue. Spurs ARE in the financial elite of the game.

But among that elite, there is one singular club that is most unwilling to press that advantage into its squad.

It's the same club that has always prioritized league position above the cups.

It's the same club whose chairman has been unwilling to provide stable and consistent support to proper football people and allow them to do their jobs.

If those things weren't true there would be trophies in the cabinet over the last 20 years.
Simple question - do you give Levy the credit for us even being mentioned in the same breath as the top 5 in the first place?

Same as every club outside of the top 5. Occasionally wins and the rollercoaster.

You sound like a 12 year old glory hunter.
You've really been cooking today

When the Premier League was formed in 1992 it was at the behest of the "big 5".

We were one of those. Is that thanks to the baldy genius too? Our status in the game long proceeds Levym
Ive already explained to you the impact that Chelsea and City have had in the past 20 years but if you’re more interested in speaking than thinking then let’s leave it there.

Yeah we were always a big club and so much of the financial growth has just been a matter of the PL's global TV rights explosion.

But ENIC bought a club that was staring down a process of Evertonization (who were also "Big 5"). Being in London would have mitigated that, but only to a degree.

Levy saw the commercial future for the game, and then embarked on a decade-plus project to give us a home that will be a benefit to us long after he's dead and gone. He should be proud of that.

But he's not a sportsman, never has been and never will be, and everything that happens competitively at the club is fruit of that poisonous tree.

You seem to have a mightily superior and condescending attitude. You might want to work on that.

I'm sick of ENIC and ENIC defenders using the "winning is hard" excuse. It's tiresome. What's even worse is the attitude that we should be grateful for what little we've got.

We pay the highest season ticket prices in the league. We have by far the highest paid chairman in the league who is paying himself for failure.

No actually I reject that. You need to engage with evidence and arguments outside of your list of talking points. I have engaged with your arguments and those of other people who I disagree with. You should do the same in good faith.

You are probably the most reasonable ENIC out person in this thread. I think you have a fair and balanced view. We disagree on some things but our positions are actually not too far apart.

That's fair but it's not like he dragged a footballing nonentity from the footballing backwaters up to elite status. It was only 7 years between us being one of the Big 5 to ENIC buying us. We were a mismanaged sleeping giant.

Now we're just a dozing giant who are now circling the drain.

And again - since they took over two teams who weren’t in the top 5 have inserted themselves in the top 2.

The footballing landscape has changed because of foreign money.

Evidence?

We have one league cup in 25 years.

We have an average salary on par with West Ham.

We have the lowest wages to turnover ratio in the league.

We are underperforming on every measure.

Everything has come home to roost where Levy is concerned. All his cheap skates moves, waiting until last minute dot com, skimping on wages, moving goalposts at the last minute, pissing off virtually every chairman and agent across Europe with his underhand slithery moves is now starting to show.
Suspect all the above has been effecting us for a while now, would certainly explain why we have struggled to fill managerial positions for the last few yrs, but the public rejections over the past 24-48 hrs have at least shown him up to the entire football community, couldn't happen to a nicer prick.
Unfortunately,it bodes poorly for us in terms of recruitment going forward. No one believes the appointments of Lange, Munn and all their predecessors like Mitchell etc change anything, as no matter what they do they will always be overshadowed by Levy, waiting for his approval or attempts to transverse Europe with his imaginary wheelbarrow to complete deals.
Nothing changes until he is totally removed from the football side of things and even at that could anyone trust him not to interfere, I wouldn't!

I’ll repeat in case you read quickly - EVIDENCE AND ARGUMENTS OUTSIDE YOUR LIST OF TALKING POINTS.

Otherwise why engage in a forum? You already know what you think.
