When we won cups ? When we were known as a cup team

I’ve seen us relegated , I’ve seen the level of rubbish we’ve had as players , management & at board levels . What we are seeing today is a different animal , the board has their eye well and truly off the ball because of other business opportunities, there is no planning in the footballing side only the newest trend , for example looking towards youth but without knowing football is a continuous beast and you can’t ignore the present while hoping for the future

No denying we won cups then - football as a whole is a completely different beast and 100% fans were absolutely desperate to break into the top 4 and be regulars in Europe - denying that is completely and utterly changing facts mate -

Fans priority definitely shifted in the PL era as SKY and the media prioritised the glow of European Football and started to diminish the domestic cups -

Nah, these folks I'm talking to.... they remember the 80s and 90s very well. They just like to make things up because they cannot think a thought that doesnt start and end with Levy
I do believe the ALL BOUT LEVY mentality is rather prevalent - for me it's just about re-shifting the focus of upper management as it is now, I'm not here to spout revisionism.

I travelled to the Champions League Final which I made into a full 2 week holiday, we lost & we didn't play our best also the handball was indeed handball but none of that was Levy's fault our squad had Trippier, Kane, Son, Dele, Lloris all in their prime with Poch (don't get me started on the revisionism on him lately) yet they as a team failed.

Agree we aren't known for cups in the last 30yrs as let's face I've only seen 3 cups since 1991 but we should be known as good competitors & contenders for them as we once were.

I also agree we can't ignore the present as the younger generations of football fans routinely inform me ;)

not sure if I have read this out of context but it's nothing like it. It's real supporters wanting to be heard with a view to not having a corporate brand focus and the club being more like football club...isn't it? .. nothing like a greasy chicken company or any other company. If other supporters don't get involved, then you are probably right, nothing will change. But alot of supporters may like it how it is now. Not sure why personally, but that's up to them.
I'm just comparing advertising & promotional materials with their messaging that's all yknow the whole Inspirational/Aspirational messaging in marketing. It was in response to someone else.

"It's real supporters wanting to be heard with a view to not having a corporate brand focus and the club being more like football club...isn't it?" correct!

"But alot of supporters may like it how it is now. Not sure why personally, but that's up to them." Again this I agree with as well if they like it how it is no one is forcing anyone to do anything :)

I have heard countless people lament having 'tourists' at the stadium and people on here calling out folks all the time for being new supporters.
Hey I don’t disagree with that , but I personally would sooner have 62k in the stadium incl Son fans and a few tourists than 50k in the stadium and 12,000 empty seats .

When not playing well and not massive Cat A games I don’t think we have more than a hardcore 40-45k who will turn up against Ipswich .

In fact if you look at the EL games without the tourist and Son fans we will have plenty of away fans sitting around us, which is worse in my view .

I can only think (and I don’t agree with this strategy) that Levy is playing the long game in the hope that FFP, or whatever it’s called now, gets even more ring stinging in the future, placing us strongly for when it happens.

Otherwise, I’m with you, in it makes no sense.
I cannot see the Prem saying the last 20 years of our product was a sham . Think it will be punishment but of a sufficiently lenient scale that all it conveys is they have been a bit naughty

This lot sold a dream of reaching new heights after the new stadium, how it would allow us to make that step up financially and compete at the top.

They've then turned around and hired a nobody manager to head a team full of kids while rapidly reducing the wage bill. It's criminal what they have done. The Beyonce shite would be fine if it was in aid of financing a competitive football team, but its all just part of a bigger picture of making us a profit machine whilst at best the team treads water.

Fan boycott, no club shop, no shirts (etc.,) is much better than protesting.

Sure your seat might be taken by a tourist but the 'new stadium pull' will die off with time. Given the ENIC goal is making money, hit them where it actually hurts - in the pocket.

You are absolutely right but this is impossible to achieve... no season ticket holders is perfect model for a club with our fan base. They know the stadium will never be empty. Do you think Levy will care if you support Spurs or the opposition if you buy a ticket. If Man United were given 40k tickets for Sundays fixture, they will sell out their allocation in an hour.

Shirts are interesting. The deal we have signed with Nike isn't just to make our kit. It's to also collect the revenue. Hence why its worth 30m a year. The revenue last year was about 63m but once you take out manufacturing, distribution and sales costs then Nikes margin is probably 10%. If we don't buy shirts we hurt Nike not Levy. He gets the 30m every year regardless of sales.

Not that I’ve ever really looked into this but if you go on company house and search up Mr borrow money & see how many companies he is the director of It’s pretty remarkable

23 director roles …. Thumb in too many pies springs to mind

Before THFC mr Dan ran several companies , most failed , I vaguely remember a Disney connection of merch that was a disaster , maybe that was Tavistock , I can’t be arsed to check 😂 but pre Spurs he’s shown how incapable he is .

We know he’s still dabbling with the football .

Great, thanks for looking that up - not a clue what it has to do with our back-and-forth but I understand you have 'Levy brain' and it's hard to have a discussion without him being at the center of it!
