The article says that it is a private investment firm/a group of private investors from Qatar. But if true there are still going to be some form of link to the QSI/government.

But it would be very us to get gulf backing on a budget. Even if said budget dwarfs our current spending.
Goodbye old owners, don't let the door hit you on your way out...

And to begin the dawning of a glorious new era, welcome to our new owner, Sheikh Daniel El KhaLevy!

Spoiler - It's just Daniel Levy wearing traditional Arabic garb that he got second hand from some Geordie on ebay...

:levylol:

Pretty vague. I understand why investors may want him to stick around, but this sounds just awful.

The issue with Levy is 2 things IMO:

1. His wage and transfer budget structure.
New investors could loosen his risk aversion tbh because he would no longer be a majority owner.

2. His decision-making on football matters and leadership style culturally.
Him sticking around would be a disaster for this. Players and agents would either still go straight to him as the final boss for decision-making, or they would start going even higher above him and trying to speak to the new owners. Both would be bad for the culture at a football club that isn't built to win.

Right but you have to accept that in the 80's and 90's especially - the FA cup was a completely different beast - there was an entire day dedicated to the final on TV.... it was a crown jewel at the end of the season and the romance about it was palpable. Everyone watched the final.

Nowadays - the top 4 race is considered more important. I put that blame solely on SKY and the PL for devaluing the cups..... especially the League Cup - Prem league games often take place on the same weekend as it..... it's not a serious trophy - id love to win it, but no one values it above finishing top 4.

No one values the FA cup over finishing top 4 either - IMHO. Do you know any United fans who saw last season as a success?

If we won the FA Cup but finished 10th would you see it as a successful season?

Managers can get sacked despite winning FA cups, but a manager ain't getting sacked if they finish in a CL place.

We used to prioritise the cup because we were not a great league team and for us that was a basket we could put our eggs into without having to worry about finishing in a high position in the league.

And let's be honest - in the 90s, we were relative nobodies - most seasons were like this one for us back then. We did win two cups - ill grant you that - but we also finished 10th and 11th in those seasons - no way with current team expectations would most people on here be ok with that in 2025

90/91 - 10th
91/92 - 15th
92/93 - 8th
93/94 - 15th
94/95 - 7th
95/96 - 8th
96/97 -14th
98/99 - 11th
99/00 - 10th

We win EL and finish 10th it will be oir best season since 1991

Ok. What will you do once ENIC have sold up? Guess you could start supporting one of Tavistock's golf resorts?
ENIC will never sell up

When the world has finally burnt up so much that all organisms cease to exist , Daniel Levy will still be running Tottenham Hotspur and will be on the blower trying to arrange for Beyonce's ashes to play at the banter bowl

Any chance Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Elon Musk could be persuaded into a medium-term consultancy post at the club?

Timing stinks a bit.

A protest against the ownership
is planned for this weekend, and this gets published today?

I know today's news is a bit of a shock but I read an article years ago stating that when Levy finally sells his holding he will demand a condition that he is retained as CEO.
Just move on to another business and keep your nose out of PL football

Club is extremely attractive to investors.

Low wages
Lots of headroom to spend while meeting spending regs
Even more if you consider the stadium still waiting for naming rights
Young talent

I have personally enjoyed local lads running the club and I don’t want to see Middle Eastern or American money. But if that’s the way football is so be it. I’ll spend more time watching rugby.

"Local lads" jesus christ mate its hardly a fucking passion project, they've put less of their own money in to the club than owners who have absolutely no attachment or link to their clubs. It's purely a business project for them and they've demonstrated this time and time again.

Not sure what the difference is between soulless corporate suit from down the road vs soulless corporate suit from America, frankly. Middle Eastern and American money already funds the club to some degree, we'd just be getting it directly instead of indirectly.

I promise you that Lewis, who right now is probably sat in the Bahamas doing some dodgy trade deal with the Saudis, gives just as much of a fuck about his connection to Spurs as Boehly does Chelsea. The cunt doesn't care about locality, he doesn't even want to do the bare minimum for his countrymen and pay his tax.
