Levy has always spent his time campaigning to stifle the owners who want to spend big at their clubs. This is nothing to do with sporting integrity and everything to do with attempting to not make him look bad because he spends peanuts in comparison on wages. Last season, Villa spent 96% of their revenue on wages when UEFA limit is 80%. I don't see them in peril this season and I imagine that figure will still be high even with the influx of CL cash. I am sure they will find a back door or a loop hole to play CL next season if they qualify and the ratio is still over 80%. They seem to have a reciprocal deal with Chelsea to buy and sell home grown talent that the selling club can count all the profit in the books right away and the buying club can spread it out. Yes, you will have to pay that bill eventually but you are banking on TV rights going up and up. Villa can also sell their training ground and their women's team to themselves of course but it's a different company. If you can't beat them join them.
The loophole for Villa is selling players to offset it. That's why they sold Douglas Luis to Juventus and Dhuran to Saudi.

On paper selling players should not be an issue for Levy. But even here's he has become too hesitant.

and Diaby to Saudi too but they also spent over 200m on new players and they cannot record the whole transfer fee for the players they sold in their books in one season... selling to Saudi is a good way to balance the books because they pay over the top transfer fees and wages but you obviously need a player to not care more about money than football. When every club is zigging you can bet your bottom dollar our chairman is zagging.

Winning the Europa league if it were to happen would feel great for a couple of days but have a feeling just like that carling cup win under Ramos it would also feel hollow after that. A club that’s not going anywhere or doesn’t really want to. Probably decades to our next success under this ownership.

Newcastle winning a less prestigious albeit harder trophy probably felt great to them because it seems like the start of something a club and ownership that’s determined to follow it up. Depressing.

I'm starting to want FFP to be completely ripped up just to expose Levy even more for the tight arse that he is.

Disagree with this, know what you mean but that’s a big win if we do it

Ha, winning our first major in 40 odd years, we would be ecstatic all Summer, let's not play it down.

Without change. We are going down next season. Because I don’t see Ange doing anything to change this farce. And it’s been worked out 18 months ago…
Depends what you mean about change. there is no indication that Levy will go although he may get a minority investor. However I would be amazed with Levy's record of sacking Managers if Ange does not go. But without looking up the records I doubt a team with 37 points has very often gone down.

The club currently is in a coma. Empty seats, no atmosphere, no real outrage amongst the fanbase, a dreadful manager, no real stars and most importantly no identity since we moved into the new stadium. I think this is the worst state we've been in since relegation and whilst i was only young there still seemed a lot of passion amongst the fans.
Have not been in the seats but my impression is that apathy has taken hold based on the empty seats and the lack of real in-person protests beyond the boos.

Nothing could be more insidious for the club than apathy.

There is an ever smaller group of loyalists online, most of whom keep getting louder and louder - dealing with the grief in their own way I reckon.

But the majority have lost the hope that used to spring up around the club. Nearly everyone beyond the Daniel Levy bitter-enders have the "oh well, doesn't matter as long as Levy is here" "if we win one crumb then that's the best we can hope for" stance.

This to me is a sign that the club has hit bottom and the silt is settling around enough to bury it. Supporters not caring enough to even be vocal about the decline of the club anymore.

Well over 1,000, perhaps closer to 2,000 at the last protest.

The one Vs Palace will be even bigger.

As has been said on here before. Ambitious clubs who want to win find a way to navigate around them.
Daniel Levy hides behind them. And, insanely, so do a lot of our fans to try and justify failure.
It does seem strange doesn't it, the other big clubs don't seem to be that concerned over failing financial irregularities like Tottenham do.
Does levy think that, if he sits there for another 50 years, other clubs might go bust and then he has the league to himself.
Or is it more likely, he just isn't concerned with the glory side of football, only what they can make out of it.
After all, he said himself that, he got into football for financial gain and not sporting ones.

TBF - we're in the semifinal of the Europa League and more than capable of beating any/all of the remaining 3 clubs...and rather than be hopeful over that many would rather wallow in the hopelessness of the ownership situation. So...

“We have found the REAL mole”.

36 points seems the magic number more often than not.
