If they sign Mbeumo it’s because he’s not worth having for anyone else?

United absolutely do attract players by offering huge wages - but that doesnt mean much when you actually dig into who and for how much.

They haven't won anything notable for years and have plenty on big wages - all laughed at relentlessly by most.
It very very much remains to be seen if they have attracted Mbuemo or not just yet

Rashford on 300k a week lol
Mount on 250k a week lol
Sancho on 150k a week lol
Mazraoui on 135k a week lol
Onana on 120k a week lol

It’s not that I don’t agree they’ve spent money horribly, because they have.

The FA Cup is absolutely something notable they won though. Prior to the EL the FA Cup is the biggest trophy we’d won since 91.

Their ineptitude at squad building isn’t the same as not being able to attract players

No PL team gets regular domestic trophies without being a regular top 4 / title challenging team.

Otherwise it's a fantasy scenario. It's not a team that exists.

For Levy, winning the league is getting the hotel built, winning the Champions League is getting the flats done.
Over £10m spent on the hotel as per the submitted late June 2024 accounts (presumably much higher now) with the money coming from the football club as shown in the accounts.
It's an expensive business getting planning permission for the flats. There has been no external investment yet so that will be more money diverted from the football club.
"Every penny we earn goes back into the football". Absolutely Daniel, of course it does.
Now this guy gets it.

Great post 👏 👏

It is, as they cant attract the players City want despite being able to easily offer similar wages, for example, because they are so inept at attracting the right players.

You think if United offered more money to Wirtz than Liverpool did he would have gone there?

No, because players that care about their career progression don't tend to go United at the moment.

It's quite funny how 'Levy IN' barely musters a piddling 15% of the vote on here but his supporters pretty much dominate this thread

Proof that some 'fans' have some kind of blind obsession with the man..

It really is a bizarre phenomenon

But if Spurs and United wanted a player and they offered more money where is the player going?

And even in your example, players still choose Saudi for wages every season and players in their prime so if they offered considerably more wages for Wirtz, yes they would have a chance.

Same thing happened with us and Liverpool for Mane. They paid the wages and signed the player that helped them win trophy after trophy.

That is £100k less than what is reported for Sancho:

It depends on the player, honestly.

I don't think any and every player would choose United over us because of money right now as their stock is so so low.....

The kind of players who choose money over the right fit team for them, yes, United win every time.

Let’s get to the crux of this issue:

Would you agree that there are players we could have in the past and could sign this summer but won’t because they don’t fit our wage structure?

Would you agree there is a non zero chance that the players who demand higher wages are often better than the players who demand lower wages?

Question 1 - Yes, absolutely. Bar one or two clubs in the country id say this is true across the board.
Question 2 - Often yes, but often is not an argument and this could be disproven 100x over

Loaded question for dudu dudu there.

We could have signed Batshuayi but didn't. Thank fuck. I'm also not convinced we missed out with Luis Diaz.

There are no clubs in the league that haven't missed out on players due to wages. City had Alexis Sanchez and Cristiano Ronaldo on the hook but didn't match united wages.

No. Very quick and easy example - Ederson earns less than Onana
(I'm not even sure that question is coherent though)

1. The 1 or 2 clubs in the country being City and Liverpool, right? Woolwich as well. United also offer wages we don’t.

City obviously aren’t playing on a fair playing field but seriously what is there to stop us competing with Liverpool and Woolwich on total transfer costs (fees, agents, and wages)? Our revenue and profits are very much in the same ball park and niether are owned by oil money

Funny because Dudu answered it honestly,

Giving an example of one player who earns less than a worse counterpart doesn’t disprove a trend or a general rule. Of course there are outliers but the general rule is that the best players earn the most money. As they should
