I dunno, my general view of reading all the forums in January plus reddit was that everyone was having a meltdown when they thought united were signing Tel. If we didn't take the option and United nicked him instead, it would be a meltdown.

TBH, if we spent the past month doing what United are doing, fannying around trying to short-change Brenford for Mbuemo, people would be saying all kinds of shit in here about us being the only club that would operate that way etc.

But, regardless, people don't seem to be motivated by the quality of the player, it's just "grass is greener" syndrome - thinking that transfer windows are competitions won by the biggest spendings or fastest movers. History very often proves the complete opposit.e
 
I ain’t going to lose my shit this early in the window but we know ENIC by now and they move at a glacial pace and Lange operates under the radar. Our signings happen quickly and with little noise.

Our ‘pull’ is obviously no where near where it was when we had Kane but I’m excited what Frank brings to the team with tactics and development.

Yes, would love us to buy Eze and we know we don’t pay the wages so I’ll wait until the window shuts before getting the pitchforks out. Like Ange’s comments last season about winning, Levy’s about winning the PL and CL will follow him so he has to show intent.
 
Might have been posted before but below is an extract from an application letter to Haringey Council over use of the Goodsyard for storage of materials for the hotel , so it looks like funding is coming from somewhere (Levy has said before it wouldn't be the club), do hope Levy/Vinai have the good sense to make a major signing before any hotel announcement otherwise there's going to be trouble with a capital "T"

The construction compound would support the delivery and construction of separate developmentsthat benefit from extant planning permissions to deliver purpose-built student accommodation at 807High Road (HGY/2024/06921), the Printworks, 819-829 High Road (HGY/2023/2306) and the hotel within the Northumberland Development Project (NDP) (ref. HGY/2023/2137).The delivery of the above schemes is critical to securing the regeneration of the wider Tottenham area. These developments will act as a catalyst for the redevelopment of adjoining sites within High Road West. Of particular note, it will help deliver the new NDP Hotel in time for the 2028 UEFAEuropean Football Championship.

Well that’s good then , because no coach works on patterns on the training pitch before the season starts . They just try things out in friendlies and hope for the best . Add to that it is well known all footballers are super intelligent and almost instantly pick up, understand and implement information and tactics .

Thanks for setting everyone’s mind at ease , for a while there we were all thinking the best professional managers and coaches knew more than you .
 
I'll say I don't follow this thread closely and so I apologise if this is discussed every other page. Do people think Levy's strategy of financial prudence (or words to that effect) is partly him playing a long game on the hope that the financial fair play rules are finally enforced properly (which to date there seems to be little sign or appetite for, potentially leaving Tottenham in a favourable position.
If it's not this then what other reasons could underlie spending choices? (and I know the last few windows the purse strings have been loosened, but more for fees and less for wages) other than just 'he's a tightwad' or 'he doesn't understand the football side of the game...
 
LOL we are up to 59 on here. We may not pay huge salaries to players compared to our rivals but we are splashing the cash on the Levy Defence Force .

Levy is like Rachel Reeves , I need to spend more on defence, (his not the teams) so I will make swinging cuts elsewhere . Winter fuel allowance cut, that’s a good idea I’ll cut the OAP ticket discount.

Create a negative atmosphere at the stadium with a new manager in place , that's the spirit.
Demo's against owners in football generally do not work , how long have Manure supporters been complaining about their owners, Ashley didn't budge until some money turned up.
Find the money and buy out ENIC that's the only thing that will work.

I think there is evidence that the rules are being enforced. Teams like Villa and Newcastle have had to sell players in the past couple of windows, just to avoid point deductions.

FWIW, I think this is exactly what Levy has been doing, but underestimated the amount of chicanery other clubs would get up to to circumvent the rules (selling women’s team to themselves, etc).

I know you jest, at least I think you do, but it's pure fantasy to think that in the modern age of social media and AI the club wouldn't utilise people and / or bots to promote their business and defend their decisions and decision makers across many platforms.

There's absolutely no reason to think Tottenham Hotspur, like any other big institution ,would not have such people or propaganda tools in place. Particularly in light of the mass media coverage of the fantastic protests last season.

There's 100% a few obvious suspects on here.

I am sure all the big clubs have people monitoring and countering social media posts . Ours are just incredibly dedicated, cos they won’t be doing it for the huge bonus 😂

Well, the dodgy 8 year contracts, selling random academy players to each other for £20m+ etc.

We can at least say we've won a trophy without bending rules and flogging off club assets

FFP will never be enforced as to how it was promised . Too many huge clubs play by their own rules & there’s always loopholes .

There’ll be the odd gesture of punishment but they will always be a joke . Levy has hidden behind this farce for too long
