ENIC In or ENIC Out

The asset is the billion pound multipurpose sports and entertainments arena.

Beyonce, the Foo Fighters, Oasis, the NFL, the Boxing and WWE won't give a single shit that Spurs are playing Oxford United instead of Manchester United and the derby is now Millwall and not Woolwich.

The football operation will need a massive haircut, so we'll sell the players and replace cheaply. But the other side of the venture will carry on.

Don't get me wrong, the non football operations income is impressive and it should be used properly to propel the football club to new heights. I've got no problem with gokarts and concerts because in theory it gives us a massive edge, but it does seem that it's being misused or perhaps even the premier league football is now the sideshow.
Granted , but wasn't it promised that all proceeds from the stadium would be ploughed back into the football team . I think we might have got led down the garden path with that one . But all the same the value of the club/shares would go down if we got relegated . And that will be tragic for the supporters and ENIC alike .

He has played 30 games for them this season?

Clue is in there, established team with better structure and better players but flopping so hard.
has he started 30 games, or just come on with a few minutes to go in most of them. What are we saying here? That Kudus is a better player or would have been the better signing for us because he’s isn’t to be blunt

Who cares either way if he can't force himself in a team who lacks creativity that's on him.

Someone said this in a different thread today and I cant find it now but my worry with ENIC is if there's a scenario where they sell the football club but retain ownership of the ground. Probably unlikely but if it happened I think it could be the start of a slow death for the club.

The latest money league shows how important prem football success is really.
For all our go karting and concerts Woolwich pulled away from us last season off the back league finish and cl run
That gap will only grow larger if we're in the championship no matter how many Taylor swift concerts there is , the TV money and the prize money is the true golden ticket
If they don't think the footballing side is the ultimate golden goose theyre absolute fools

They aren’t fools about this. They know the money is in the football. It’s only posters on here that seem to think a business owner would be happy failing at something that provides 95% of their revenue, as long as the other 5% is pinging along nicely. Our football revenue dwarfs the other stuff.

ENIC do actually spend money - have done for their entire tenure. We spend shitloads on transfers. We are still owe other clubs a fair whack of those shitloads. We pay good wages to players, despite this being a smaller percentage of a larger revenue than most others in our league. The actual cash involved is healthily large. Our managers get paid loads, as do their tribes of advisors and assistants.

What they don’t do is spend the money properly. They make too many mistakes.

Already on the path of death. I’m a cynic but also have to point that I have long suggested the Coventry situation with their stadium and club very much awaits.

But our commercials are better than theirs, while they have the edge on broadcast income. Match day is about equal.

The worry I have is ENIC decide that pure commercials and off field activity is the income stream with more potential, and given how much more the Goons spend to be competitive the financial payoff doesn't seem to be worth it.

Levy let Ange stay way longer than he should have.
He let the rot set in and everyone at the club got too comfortable losing PL games.

He got soft in his old bald age.

There's two sides to it. Occam's Razor could provide two different conclusions if you wanted to accept that he knew that Vivienne was coming into disrupt things:

1) He had no autonomy over the manager
2) He knew that it could be the last chance under his tenure to try win a trophy

We don't know what really happened and what was/wasn't known at that time. I'd have thought anyone who disliked him and wanted to believe the version that credits him least (e.g. anything to do with the trophy) would believe the first option

My little-tiny-take now we're half a season in sans-Levy.

Levy's remit was to make the club financially viable in the long-term- the stadium was the last stone in that. He - of course - didn't realise that was his sole purpose - he has the shares and was an ever-present, probably-too-close to the day-to-day running. He seemed genuinely delighted when involved with receiving the Europa - as excited as any one of us would have been in his own way (without the swearing and jumping). Levy was too much of a fan in the end to distance himself appropriately from the running of it and use the club purely to print the money and administer the Lewis family cash-cow.

ENIC 'proper' are more akin to the Glazers or Brady or Ratcliffe - they'd like to win but are fairly happy if they don't, as long as they don't get relegated (and they can still blame Levy / Frank/ Lange/ Vinai if this happens). This is why they haven't really done anything they might have done since Summer to make some changes - whether that's with some emergency loans in January or taking a hit on Frank. Based on the past 20 years of Levy-ENIC, we would all have expected Frank to have gone or some Paratici-wheeling-dealings to bring in unwanted Juve veterans to get everything a bit more solid. None of that has happened.

Whether that is a) to drive down the cost of the shares to pressure Levy to release them fast or b) because they're absolutely incompetent I don't know. I do know that - since even the days of Sugar - I have not seen the club so badly run as it is right this minute, with clear dislike for the board and even the club (apart from Conte and Mourinho, no ex-players or coaches have ever moaned about Levy, in fact, quite the reverse) from outspoken players and a departing Paratici. Obviously, people have agendas, but these are outbursts that haven't happened until the past few years when Levy's planned obsolescence was coming into play. I don't think Levy fully realised his days were numbered, but he must have had an idea - maybe why we chased the trophy, not the league? Maybe why he spent so much of ENICs money in the summer?

This is not a defence of Levy, but a criticism of ENIC v.2 who are cowardly hiding behind the only scapegoats they have left -
1) The 'ghost' of Levy; 2) Frank; 3) sub-standard players (and the 'good fortune' of a second successive season of injuries); 4) Lange; 5) Vinai. Assuming we survive this season in this league (not quite a guarantee), I would expect to see Vinai become Levy mk.2 and the target of ire from the fans. The issue, though, is ENIC and their reluctance to back the club - those decision aren't made on a personal level as they were back at the start of ENICs tenure, but at a board level. Think back and see how different we were ten seasons ago - clearly building and improving- yes, we didn't recruit for Poch until it was too late; yes, we loaned two players for Redknapp; yes, Levy went chasing the next 'big thing' with Ramos over Jol; Mourinho over Poch. But - these were understandable (and misguided) easily understood decisions - and decisions which one person took responsibility for. Now? No 'one' person is to blame. We have Frank as a mouthpiece saying what he must to keep a job; Lange, the same. The reality is that ENIC don't want to speak because to do so shows their real intent or lack of interest.

Where we are now? It makes no sense. One of the wealthiest clubs in the world and down to a bare bones squad.

I have always defended Levy on a human level. This lot. No. The faces we know have no real power - some spreadsheet somewhere is where the real 'meaning' is for ENIC.

I hope we turn it around and generate long-term success, of course I do. If we don't, for the first time since they took over, I want ENIC to sell up and I'll take a chance with whatever the alternative is.

Semenyo and Eze are miles better than Kudus.

I think it depends how you look at it tbh.

In terms of goals and assists to games Kudus is comparable to Eze, pro rata, and he is younger.

Semenyo is the best of the 3 players and this is reflected in the volume of goals to games he scores with a decent amount of assists.
