And he wanted him. Out of all the wide players in Europe and beyond the best we could do was get Werner. Right before the transfer window had started. Many thought he would be a decent backup and we would buy a top quality wide forward just as Ange said we needed. We then wait while transfer to the death and get oddjob with done BS about we were tracking him for ages and wanted him all along. The sheer BS of it all and some fans accepted it!

Thing with Odobert is we haven't had a chance to see if he' starting 11 quality yet. His debut was as exciting as I can remember for a forward we have signed in a long time and then we put him on the RW and learned that really he's not the both sided winger we thought he might be. Not yet at least.
But what we saw when he played LW tells me he should start over Son when he's fit again.
We still needed another elite level forward as well, though. It's just that we needed that player instead of loaning Werner, not instead of signing Odobert.

Besides, like you said, Werner usually works his bollocks off. Yeah his tekkers, especially finishing, are jokes...but bar last night, he usually tracks back, puts challenges in, wins the ball back. Ange's little protege bitch Brennan does absolute fuck all other than finishing moves off.
Yes, Kane stayed 2 or 3 years longer than coulda/shoulda...and Sonny is still here. But I think there's more to it than meets the eye.
And, at the other end of the spectrum, we sold Bale, Walker, Modric, Robbie Keane & Defoe (before bringing them back), Berbatov, Carrick, Sheringham...

Apparently Werner made 8 unforced errors in 45 minutes. That cost us £20k each. Shocker.
Just back on Son for a minute, I noticed through last night’s game he hung out on the left touchline about halfway in the opponent's half and when he was passed the ball he did nothing with it but passed it back and backwards at a 45 degree angle. This he does through every game.
He is getting to the end of his best but I think Sonny is still better than that, the problem is the strategic placing of his position. Sonny is at his best when he has space to move around in, these days he is blocked out on the edge of the field, surrounded by the defensive midfielders. He’s no good at heavily taking on opponents, his game is speed and although he is slower than he used to be he has no chance being stuffed in a crowd.
So he gets the ball and does nothing with it but I think he can still make a great contribution he just needs Ange to set it up where he can get some movement going.
