Management Fabio Paratici

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If true shows exactly why he needed to go. To be fair if this is the case this isn’t a Levy fuck up as he trusted his DoF

But that is such a poor selection of managers. Gattuso, Nuno, Stellini, Luis Enrique. Either crap or unsuitable.

I'm guessing his remit from the board was, how can we keep the shitshow from imploding for the last 10 games without spending anything and upsetting the squad too much?

Which would make the Stellini suggestion highly likely and would make sense tbh.

Stinks like they didn't want to pay the rest of the backroom staff off along with Antonio tbh.

Let's not forget Fabio didn't call the shots at the club.

All 4 of those names were out of contract coincidentally.

And how is that different than most other clubs? There's marketing geezers/bean counters in charge more or less everywhere. Van der Sar at Ajax is a outlier and had to work his way up the organisation. He didn't just get the job because he "knew football".

It's counterproductive to turn on the dude before he has had a chance to even start his job.
I think our opinion of some behind the scenes bean counter is more inconsequential than counter productive really...

Bullshit

Our squad is a mess

Horrendous CBs

Poor goalkeepers

Dreadful LWBs

One Striker actually capable of scoring goals (probably leaving)

Workmanlike midfielders

Your deluded if you think otherwise

You're being too glass half empty and biased based on that starting point, as shown with your striker comment.

Richarlison had about 1 goal every 3 matches mostly from the wing for Everton. Fucking Everton! And 1 every 2 for Brazil.

Him not scoring this season is, and yes you're correct some of the way, down us being somewhat of a mess this season.

Thanks God he is gone
We do not need director of football
We need a new manager NOW who scouts players and gives a list to buy from

But knowing Levy, he will appoint a new manager a day before 2023/24 season starts and will buy a couple of Sissokos.

Suffering of Spurs supporters never ends.

I’m willing to give the guy a chance, but I think we can be honest about what he is too. It actually doesn’t bother me too much that he’s likely not a real footballing guy as long as he knows how to find and support the best footballing guys. The DoF should really be the expert in that area, so if he gets us the right/best one and we are supporting a unified strategy then he’s being successful.

My two fears are that Levy will ultimately still control the purse strings, and that we’re potentially looking at Levy 2.0 who’s focus will be on all of the tangent aspects of our football instead of whats actually on the pitch.

Sarr, Gil both serious talents.

I like what I have seen of Gil so far.

Emerson has found himself eventually and looks to be exactly the type of character and professional that we never used top sign. The guy is mentally very tough.

As you can probably tell from my user name, I'm still expecting Richy to be a great signing. Bissoumas is in that boat as well.

Even Danjuma could end up a very astute signing.

Edit: Spence is a talent that recently locked up Mbappe and Messi, Udogie we can't judge yet but also looks a serious talent. Romero is already a in the same category as Kulu and Bentancur.

I generally agree but there is a lot of if buts or maybes in there.
We needed good players to come in and perform straight away or at least most of them and apart from 2/3 they haven’t

Yes, but this is precisely the point of the DoF structure.

The DoF is meant to be in charge of footballing appointments, such as the Head Coach.

The fundamental dysfunctionality of the way our famous club is run is demonstrated by Levy's notorious "Spurs DNA" statement.

Levy (May 2021): 'We shall focus on the recruitment of a new Head Coach. We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known – free-flowing, attacking and entertaining - whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.'

I'm perfectly happy with such a philosophy for our club. Count me in.

But none of Levy's subsequent senior appointments (DoF & Head Coaches) were consistent with that statement of intent.

Oh he is a marketing geezer involved in sports! Nrl Aussie rules the Olympics.... Oh and Melbourne???
I know quite a lot of 'marketing' people at FIFA, UEFA, the IOC and across a range of other top sporting organisations, it doesn't make you a bad person (well, for some it does), it just means you understand audiences and how to communicate with them. It doesn't automatically mean you know fuck all about sports, a close mate is an ex-international footballer who is in a sports management/marketing role... very clever guy and balances the two skill-sets well.

So a blanket 'this guy is a bean counter' (I know not yours) is a dumb comment.

I've found the most limiting people are actually ex-athletes. They seem to make an easy transition into the corporate side but have very little real-world experience, it's frustrating sitting in meetings with them, hearing their very one-dimensional view.

The best companies understand this and have a blended mix.
