Anybody with a quarter of a brain would have thought twice about promoting that when the important factor - the football - was turning to shit.

You expect the corporate end of the business to shut down based on the ebb and flow of game results?

That's unrealistic. It's 2 seperate wings of the club....... Recognising this does not indicate a lack of "passion" nor a lack of intelligence.

Personally, I was too pissed about the result to have even noticed the announcement of a poxy go kart (or whatever the beef here is).

Not shut down but shut the fuck up for 24 hours or so

I expected them to be aware that it was not a great time to be shouting about such things. The football was splintering and emotions were running high. I don't think anybody was in the mood to see promos about go-karts or extending hotels.

Yeah but he'll want more, he's literally the most in demand striker in the world, he's not going to ask for pittance relative to what he can earn.
So double his wages? That’s do-able and not going to put us as risk or torpedo our structure. Incentives, bonuses etc tagged to CL, trophies de-risks it (as our revenue grows)

City don’t want him. Who else can afford to pay it

We could go back n forth like this for some time; but I think it's way off the mark to imply that anyone that wasn't triggered by a go-cart promo lacks "passion".

As already pointed out; plenty of us wouldn't have even been paying attention to that crap.

No

Wage thing been done before many times

You offer him his wage then everyone else will expect a similar pay rise to suit and start knocking on Levy's door for more money.

We're literally a handful of clubs who are running a sustainable wage to turnover ratio yet you want us to just double a players wage just like that lmao

It wasn't a case of being triggered; the football was doing that. What it did was further amplify the emotions in a negative way for many of us which is why I'd argue that some of us do feel more passionately about these things than others. We're not all cool cucumbers.

It's another example of an iatrogenic consequence caused partly by Levy's naivety and, to be fair to him, his likely good intentions. He possibly thought it would be a glimpse of sunlight amidst the gloom. I've no idea. But it had the adverse effect.
