Exactly!

So this is where their arguments fall down about it being unfair. Even city have realised this now with them adding to the capacity of the Etihad numerous times with plans to keep doing so. Chelsea are fucked because of where their stadium is. The only way their owners can build a bigger stadium is to leave Fulham. Newcastle owners realise it too, they are trying to expand their stadium, trouble is, it’s in newcastle. So only Geordies are going to go there. They don’t have the tourists us or even Manchester has for football. Nobody visits newcastle for the weekend from another country think I’ll grab a game on the off chance, while in London they might do.

Without FFP we are probably still sat in the old stadium.
Newcastle is quite popular with domestic tourists for some reason.

The other issue for Newcastle is their seat prices are a lot less than London as people don't earn as much up there and of course that means match day revenue is less. So they probably need a 100k capacity stadium to compete ..... but they will never fill that size of stadium without massively discounted tickets. So they have a real problem !

Yeah it’s wonderful.

Levy actually touched on it during his chat at cambridge university but was very careful to use a mid table French team as the example and not an English club (although I suspect he was referring to Brighton at the time) where he talked about glass ceilings for clubs who can’t grow the fanbase because of their location and a difficulty in growing their fanbases.

This is complete bollocks by the way. Obviously it’s not on the scale of London but both UK and international tourists are common in Newcastle.

Spursidol Spursidol - got any evidence about the ticket price difference?

Match day revenues and capacity is a good start - easy to see Newcastle less than Sours for example

But also some less popular clubs cannot sell as many seats as the want so lower prices.

I was curious so looked that up.
Only found 2019 stats, but apparently only 1.5m tourists in Newcastle and of those, only 105k were from overseas.

No ! does not meet definition of club trained in uefa regulations - needed to be at spurs for 3 years before age of 21 (fails both because of Metz loans and there's not 3 years between date of Spurs signing and end of season he became 21 - and 2 fails does not equal a pass !)
We're talking about 2 different things though, this thread, although it's titled FFP, is talking about the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability rules.
So domestically, is Sarr not going to be classed as club trained?

I get we need to think of status for competing in Europe, but I'm thinking about complying with the league rules on P&S?

Fair enough on the overseas but it’s not “only Geordies” going there.
I think there's probably more non Geordie Newcastle fans than say Sunderland or Boro, mainly because of the Keegan era. I know at least 5 from my neck of the woods in Essex, most of which go there fairly regularly.
Tbh, they probably get there and back quicker than I can get from North Kent to Spurs thanks to shitty trains

Ok, people from the surrounding towns. Nobody is going on a weekend trip to Newcastle from Paris or Rome mate. People from the rest of England only really go there either for the very good universities or on stag dos. But it’s the same for lots of regional cities. It’s never going to drive revenues from international guests to the city.

They really aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. Certainly not comparable to their glory years though. Praying we turn up with our depleted squad and walk away with a win. I definitely believe Postecoglu can pull it off.
