Not one player from the Premier League made the team... Suarez/Aguero surely should of made the cut, somewhere? I'd of had Suarez instead of Zlatan.

GK - Neuer
DF - Sergio Ramos
DF - Thiago Silva
DF - Phillip Lahm
DF - Dani Alves
MF - Frank Ribery
MF - Andres Iniesta
MF - Xavi
FW - Zlatan
FW - Lionel Messi
FW - Cristiano Ronaldo

I wouldn't have had any tbh. I'd have gone with this...

-------------------Neuer------------------
Lahm---Dante---Kompany---Alaba
------Schweinsteiger---Iniesta-------
Ribery----------Messi---------Ronaldo
-----------------Ibrahimovic---------------

Sometimes a picture says it all

I actually think the most strange pick in that team is Thiago Silva. The guy is supposedly one of the best defenders in the world (though yet to prove in in any of Europe's top 3 leagues) and is plying his trade in France, surrounded by some of the best money can buy, playing against teams on a completely different scale to them. He isn't playing in a league that matches his apparent talent, therefore he shouldn't be in the team in my opinion. It's not like PSG has lit up the Champions League yet either.
It'd be like Messi playing for Sheriff, scoring 600 league goals and still being in the team. The level of the league surely has to come into how you can judge a player's ability.

On the contrary, Zlatan has been impressive on a club, European, and International level, scoring some quite unbelievable goals. The match recently away vs Anderlecht summed the bloke up. Absolute class. Has to be in there for me.

I do think that people still can't see past Barcelona and Real Madrid. Sergio Ramos? How many red cards (and therefore suspended games) last season? Chiellini is a far better defender. Maybe Ramos is better on the ball, going forward, but that isn't his job. Xavi - by his standards dropped off last season, and has been playing less this year (not started 6 of their 19 league games I think?). Schweinsteiger is better. Bayern Munich now have a superior squad to both Spanish Giants, as they showed over two legs, but less players in the team? Dani Alves!?!? No. Not the best right back in Europe. Not any more. Both Lahm and Alaba are better full backs. Zabaleta is excellent.

And where are the Dortmund players? Reached the Champions League final, have some excellent talents - Reus, Lewandowski, Gundogan, Hummels. I bet they got hardly any votes...

No Bale? No Suarez (as you say)? and Aguero? Yaya Toure!? Kompany, surely warrants a place more than Silva?

I do think the votes are heavily influenced by who they hear about, rather than who've they've seen. I mean, seriously, how many PSG league games are these people watching?

Another pile of shit from FIFA. Well done.

Agree. It's the unconditional love for the Spanish clubs, players, although incomprehensible since i think everybody around the world had the ability to vote. Guess their fans really want them to enter this team so they all vote. Last year, correct me if i'm wrong, all players were from Barcelona or Real (except Falcao). Absolutely mindblowing. But then again, it's the FIFA.

Correct. And at the time, all La Liga players. It makes a mockery of the awards. That league is so top heavy, and the way TV money is distributed and reportedly councils helping out Madrid and Barcelona with purchasing and selling land (which is everything FIFA & UEFA say they are against - FFP suggests that more than anything!) it just sums it up.

La Liga (in my opinion) is the 3rd best league now, behind ours and the Bundesliga. And some way behind, too.

I think the voting is around November so imagine it goes from the end of November to the beginning of the next November.
Ta.

From Wiki:

Voting
The deadline for voting was 15 November 2013.[3][4][5] However, on 20 November 2013, FIFA announced that voting was extended to 29 November 2013 for "after receiving a response of less than 50% from eligible voters before the original deadline."[3][4] It was also announced that any vote cast before the first deadline can be changed to "take into account recent performances."[4][5] The winners were announced on 13 January 2014

Contenders
A shortlist of 23 male players was compiled by members of FIFA's Football Committee as well as a group of experts from France Football.[9] It was announced on 29 October 2013.
There were three voters per FIFA member federation: one journalist and the coaches and captain of the national men's team.
