I know not everyone rates this trophy but it’s still a decent one in my opinion, not least for the occasional fun midweek away game.

First round started today. I went to Crawley vs Swindon. Ended 4-2. 6 goals and a penalty save on a warm summer evening on the terraces. All for £13 for me and the kids.

Really hope we prioritise the cups this year. The Europa League and one of the domestic cups would be a very decent season for me.

I read something about the fixtures for the early. League cup being played in the same week as the Europe matches. Therefore we will have no alternative but to play a weakened team. Will need to be lucky with the draw unless the kids really step up.

The amount of matches in a season is getting really stupid. UEFA and the CL are trying to make European competitions the main part of the season, so all domestic competition is being squeezed.

PL teams not in Europe have now joined the draw. Who can forget the joys of losing to Fulham on penalties last year? Sadly we won’t have that fun and will have to wait for R3 for a potential embarrassing exit.

:ange-arms2:

in Round 3 we cannot be drawn against any side also in Europe - they have basically seeded it.

We will play rd 3 the week commencing 16/09 whereas no euro sides play week commencing 23/09 - we will have a euro fixture the week commencing 23/09

Off to the Amex tonight to watch Crawley in the Sussex derby. 3,500 tickets sold so should be a good atmosphere. Hoping for an upset but expecting an easy victory for the Tesco bags.

It's time to remind everyone about the changes having to be implemented for the third round due to the expansion of European competitions this season.

Essentially, Manchester United and Tottenham will play their third round ties in the week commencing 16 September, with the remainder of the games the following week.

This is because the Europa League starts in the week commencing 23 September as each European competition has been granted an 'exclusive' week by UEFA.

The Champions League begins on 17 September, which means the EFL Cup third round is effectively being seeded so neither United nor Tottenham get a Champions League team as there would be a clash.

Effectively, Manchester City, Woolwich, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham will each be drawn in the first six matches (there will already have been a draw to confirm the order and whether each club is home or away). The rest of the draw will be open.

When is the Carabao Cup draw?

The Carabao Cup fourth-round draw will take place tonight, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, upon the conclusion of Liverpool’s clash with West Ham – which kicks off at 8pm BST.

Where to watch the Carabao Cup fourth-round draw

TV channel: The draw will be shown on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.

We WON'T advance, so no need to worry 😉

No chance in hell we beat LiVARpool over two legs.

But i can say i wasn't overly surprised Woolwich "drew" the "easiest" opponents in Newcastle. They tend to always do, don't they?

Since 1913ish
I'd fancy our chances more if the league fixtures broke in our favour with them challenging for the title. But it doesn't look like they'll be overly taxed.

Pray for a miracle - winning the LC with this run of opponents would truly be impressive.

With a tough match in the FACup following the 1st leg I cannot see Liverpool resting players. Possibly after today complacency may set in. We will not have our GK or CB,s back and can only hope for a better outcome but you often see a different result between 2 teams playing in different tournaments.
