I guess it depends if big means wealthy or if big means successful.

Winning the league is the pinnacle of English club football. We are equal 15th when it comes to most times winning the league.

I'm 62yo and we have never won the league when I've been alive. We didn't even win the 2nd division when we were promoted in the 77-78 season.

Being one of the wealthiest clubs in world football and not winning anything for years is bordering on criminal negligence.

Am I bitter? Maybe a little.

Financially we're massive. But we keep yo-yo-ing in and out of the top six slots with Villa and Newcastle jockying for our place in that unofficial list.

Personally, I've never given a shit about such forced titles. It's all down to the position in the table in any given year for me. If we finish in the top six then we're a top six team. Confirmed.

Fifteenth place is an abomination to the mind and senses and whoever is overseeing our demise deserves a Dalek enema. Oh yeah. It's Levy and Ange. Exterminate.

* Son saved for last half hour when he's more likely to make an impact if needed. If Kulusevski not fit enough to start I'd play Odobert.

That front three have the work ethic to keep/win possession high up the pitch

The issue is Newcastle, Villa and Forest all seem to have ambitious owners, this is probably not their high point, particularly Newcastle. You then have the well run teams Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth below them.

So it’s not simply City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Woolwich that are out ahead. We have a whole set of growing teams in the league that will pray on clubs that don’t have ambition or are not well run.

If we are not careful the Pochettino period may well be the high point of this club under ENIC with mid table being our long term future. There might not be a quick way back to top 4.

Last 16 games in the league.

14th. Chelsea
15th. Man United
16th. West Ham
17th. Spurs

64 games played between them.
17 wins. That’s absolutely shocking.

Wonder how long it has been since 3 of the big 6 have been in this type of situation at the same time. 70s or 80s I guess.

Football runs in cycles. We need to get out of this shit one quickly.
Good thing the 3 promoted below sides are pretty terrible if not we would be in real trouble this season.

Great stat.

Never ever known a season of such under-performance.

Ours is awful but compared to the outlays of Chelsea (cnuts), United (entitled fcukers), and West Ham, we are arguably the least of the underperformers.

Staggering, and as I maintain, indicative of an average PL and that never has such paucity of player and coach been so heartily rewarded.
