Braverman talking about billions of refugees is all you need to look at to see who is on the right side of this story her or Lineker. Suzannah Reid destroyed Braverman this morning for peddling lies and dangerous rhetoric
 
I know we don't share political ideals, but I have enjoyed your sense of humour and respect your conviction, despite not always sharing it. I'm not one for playing games on here, I'm happier to state my POV and debate, contrast other people's. When they are pleasant to me, I do the same to them. You were jerking me around and I lost patience with it

So you dont think we do should have borders or an immigration policy. You think we should encourage people to arrive illegally from European countries including 12000 from Albania? You think that it is ok for people to risk their lives and use people smugglers? You think it is ok for actual genuine refugees who can't afford to pay to lose their place in the queue in favour of an economic migrant who can afford? Do you know Albanians have the right to apply for a visa, they are granted visas on a regular basis. They are checked and provided with visas on a regular basis unless they have criminal records.... So who do you think comes by boat?

The fact is the plan is not to put people in Rwanda, you do understand that? It's simply to stop illegal entry by small boat. The plan is identical to the one in Australia. It does not:

Stop asylum seekers coming to the UK legally.

I will make this easy for you. I am a massive fan of immigration, my wife is an immigrant, my grandparents were immigrants, we need immigrants! But there has to be a policy and standards so we can bring those we need and those who need help. If you can explain how we can achieve this via people arriving in small boats it would be great to hear.....

So you don't have an argument? Against anything I said?

And as I read the quote I don't really see a problem as billions of people would like to come here from poorer parts of the world. In fact I can happily say I've met a fair few and don't have any issues with thier desire. I know a fair few people who've come here like my grand parents, in fact I know loads and I love it that the have chosen and we have allowed them to come here.

I think if we are talking about language we would be better to watch out for people who use the term Nazi when talking about people who are concerned with "immigration policy" not racial superiority or a desire to place the good of the state ahead of the individual and to have supreme power - that would be a Nazi. Calling politicians talking about immigration Nazis is simply offensive and politically illiterate. I have also worked all over the world and been an immigrant - everytime I've gone through a process to gain entry and been checked. I simply don't see the issue.

Again from a purely economic reason we need more immigration not less - but it should be regulated..

I disagree with some of it , however you responded to my post about who is on the right side . A person talking about billions of refugees , or the person calling out such rhetoric.

The whole of Europe needs to shoulder the burden incl the UK. We do not take appreciably more than many other European countries but we are trying to pull up the ladder . We should create more safe legal routes for applications, expedite the claims one way or the other rather than detain people for 18 months.
People would not be paying smugglers their life savings and risking dying if there was another way of applying, pretty obvious

Just out of interest how many asylum seekers has British foreign policy played a massive hand in creating . Our finger prints are all over both the refugee and economic migrant crisis. I admit Albania is an outlier to this

Actually again she didn't say billions of refugees or asylum seekers from what I could see but rather stated billions of people would want to come to the UK - again she is right and again good on them, however the idea of uncontrolled borders is more a generator of criminals than refugees coming to your country for obvious reasons.

I absolutely agree we need to create more safe routes and I also believe we need to increase the ability for skilled and unskilled economic migrants to arrive legally asap.

As for UK foreign policy it's a while since we invaded Iraq...(maybe we need to remember that was Blair) Otherwise what have we done in recent years. We did not create Isis, we did not cause the war in Syria or the Arab Spring and we did not persuade Putin to invade ukriane.

Many of those currently arriving are clearly not genuine refugees. Albanians? Romanians? Indians? Pakistanis? We take lots of people from these country's legally,but those arriving by boat obviously can not use legal means.

The government's idea is the threat of Rwanda will stop those people and actual refugees getting in boats - personally I reckon whatever stops people (including babies) drowning is worth trying. Again the idea is not to deport people but simply stop them getting in boats in the first place and is based on the Australian policy which was instigated after 200 people drowned...
