Player Guglielmo Vicario

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I made this point in another thread, possibly badly 😄 (probably) - but I dont know what sort of team he is for.

I think he is a very good shot stopper. All keepers need this.

I think every team needs a keeper that inspires confidence/calm, it is essential to how the team plays (bit of an intangible, but a big deal IMO) - Vicario is terrible here.

After that its more tactical.

You want to sit deep and counter? You need a keeper who will command his box in the inevitable corners conceeded (Vicario is poor) and you need a keeper who can kick long/throw long accurately to instigate breaks (Vicarios is very poor here)

You want to play a possession game, build out from the back? You need a keeper who will use his feet confidently, will stay calm when being closed and find a pass. Will be able to put a ball into midfield if a players is in space. Also someone who will come off his line early and close the angles if the opposition gets in behind. Again, Vicario very poor in these situations IMO.

So despite being a good shot stopper - and he had made unbelievable saves - I really dont know what team he suits.

And I think we can 100% upgrade on him, probably quite easily.

Probably with Kinsky/Austin even.
Good post. One of the best shot stoppers in the world. Championship level at everything else

So unbelievably tired of this cunt. For all the talk of his shot stopping he’s been wrong footed on nearly a dozen goals this season. Moans more than an average TFC poster and his kicking is about our standard too.

Get him the fuck out

he defo needs to go, hell always be a liability. the amount of times he kicks the ball out when no one else would, hes nowhere near good enough, decent shot stopper but thats it. he comes across as a cunt too, youd think he was peter schmeichel the way he goes on!

He bounced up so quickly after the Semenyo goal and started his arm waving tantrum. Anyone know who that was directed towards?
Trying to cover his ass because he can’t guard the bottom corner on an undeflected shot from 30 yards out that he had full visibility on.

I’m a keeper and you shouldn’t get beat from there outside of a worldy. No way in hell would I yell at my teammates after getting beat from that distance.

Good shot but savable.

Directed to 1.Wilson who Pedro points to tell him to close Semenyo
2.Richy who really should have got a foot in if was more alert….

Vics quite right to ask the question ffs..
Looked to me that Rich was a baw-hair away from a block. As bonaspur23 says, you’d not want to be beaten by that distance at that angle.

I've been mixed on Vicario. He's basically a one-dimensional shot stopper.

That's not good enough these days. His kicking is woeful. His long kicks are so soft and lofted; it's like he's incapable of driving the ball. He's ok on short passing but I don't think he reads the game exceptionally well or puts his defenders in better positions; he basically just recycles the play and the defenders break the press (or more likely fail to break the press). He's a good shot stopper but not even a great one like someone like Oblak was/is. He seems to have trouble with shots that knuckle or have abnormal spin - Buendia's knuckler for Villa's 2nd goal and then Semenyo's goal which spun away from goal. The deflected shot he spilled a rebound (against Leeds?) is another one where he couldn't deal with the spin, granted this one was more difficult. These are challenging shots, no doubt, but when you are a one dimensional shot-stopper and saving shots is your only strength, you need to be better on these type of shots.

I would like a replacement or certainly someone to challenge him and force him to improve or move on.
