Arguably the main reason behind this league-wide set piece mania is that, thanks to the high standard at which everybody and their dog utilizes man to man high press these days, open play ends up in stalemate like never before.
In this context, goalkeeper who will never be marked in the usual sense of the term emerges as the odd man and a potential difference maker. He doesn't have to do these to be able to add value to his team in that department.
He can, with an occasional nicely picked out 10-20 yard forward pass for example, kickstart a chain of events that have a higher chance of leading to more desirable outcomes ; in a way that a keeper who cannot make those passes can't.
How significant of a role do Vicario's struggles with the ball play in our overall struggles as a team? More than it appears at the first glance, due to the aforementioned chain reactions that are caused by his initial decisions as the goalkeeper.
Little good comes out of these sequences that start with him ignoring a very makeable forward pass towards the centre to go sideways / long instead.
Since he's not exactly prime De Gea at meat and potatoes of goalkeeping, he cannot compensate via that either.
Time to move on.

That's the kind of distribution that many keepers are capable of these days:
All are from the same game; the guy slips and still delivers passes that are miles better than Vicario's.
Even without his blunders would a manager with modern inclinations when it comes to possession play in particular want him out almost immediately.
And this was the keeper they got for Ange who's entire game was possession based.
And, in fact, it wasn't that much of a weakness under Ange. Mainly because he didn't ask his keepers to be an extra outfielder but simply to play simple passes well.
Get a possession based manager in and Kinksi comes into play - or we need to pay the money to get someone who can do both.

He’s a good shot stopper to be fair, but so many other key aspects are lacking. Quite rightly, people highlight our CM as a reason why we can’t play - it’s also down to the Italian flannel foot too

I genuinely wouldn't shed a tear if he broke his leg and cried his eyes out. Well actually, we wouldn't be able to sell him, so let that happen when he's at Juve or AC.

Regarding saves: he can stop the shot, but is absolutely clueless with controlling were the ball will go after save is made.
A lot of the goals are from corners and other factors vs one on one shots, or long rangers which is he is ok at saving. Don’t get me wrong, he’s almost certainly the worst all around GK in the league
I usually try to find the positives and upside in our players, as I'm a positive kinda gal, but I'm sick to the back teeth with this guy.
Please let Inter take him off our hands, and go and spend on a really promising keeper from Europe or go for Roefs, for example. Someone who is playing brilliantly in the prem, and seemingly has a small catalogue of stinkers.
There are so many gettable keepers out there that are streets ahead of this guy.
Saying that, props to Vic with his shot stopping, it can be incredible - but you just cant rely on that. There is a lot more a keeper needs to be. Command of the area, aerial ability, communication, distribution and to be calm and assertive.
Get him gone in the summer. I want to see Kinsky in a few games, he might be crap, but we dont 100% know that yet.

Massively overblown with this guy, he doesn't do anything remotely spectacular, just saves that you'd expect of any PL level keeper.
He makes things look way harder than they actually are by leaping around like a salmon and parrying chest hight balls coming straight at him.
He's also such a dickhead that you're never inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on marginal issues anymore.
Kinsey is fucking awful. Vicario is better at everything except distribution.
