Without trying to sound like a new-age hippy, we live in the information age (fast becoming the age of knowledge). This information is the basis of many commercial decisions and what we're seeing with all the new stats and graphics is the tip of the iceberg as far as the tools go to develop this knowledge.
xG is a bollocks stat, but it's one of many used to make an informed decision. It's perhaps useless on its own, but Sky want to sound knowledgeable and informative without putting people off with the complexity of the other stats that might make it useful. As a snippet of insight, it sounds great and that's good enough for daytime TV.
I'd love it if we could get a button to switch commentary to a less condescending level of insight. But Gary Neville it is.

Personally, I think stats actually ruined a sport in Rugby Union. It's all about phases, territory, passes, rucks won etc. gone are the days when it was moderately good and guys like Campese would embark on a mad solo run, now it's about "hit-ups" etc.
I think nearly all stats in football are bollocks, I mean a 2 yard square pass 40 yards from goal can go down as an assist? What does the stat "clearances" really tell us other than someone can hoof the ball? What does recoveries really mean? Does it take situations like control of ball or number of players involved?
These stat companies have made a fortune out of providing teams with meaningless stats, when the truth of the matter is that a football coach with a set of eyes and an understanding of the game knows what's going on without needing stats.
Wasn't it stats that told Mourinho that De Bruyne was a shit footballer?
Kane has never told anyone he's "desperate" to leave. There's obviously an element of truth he'll consider his options if we don't make the CL next season, but the Athletic are definitely exaggerating a lot of these dubious quotes from their "sources".

There was a poll on a Twitter Spurs page asking "Would you rather Mourinho and Kane stay or Mourinho and Kane leave?". 74% (including me) were for them to stay. I think that Kane really enjoys working under Mourinho, contrary to popular opinion.
The old “I don’t understand the data, so it’s just made up to appeal to the Americans and young people” logic.
Most of the data isn’t flawless but to just completely ignore it (and for the reason listed) is ignorant.
That’s a reflection on Kane and says nothing about Jose.

Yeah, could be that that's true. I haven't paid that much attention as I normally turn the sound off when the whistle goes, but I do see a lot of these stat-sheets and they are grasping at straws, like you say.
I have no idea about Jose/de Bruyne, but I'd be ashamed if that was the reason. But maybe being called shit by the best manager in the world* gave him a kick up the arse? hahaha, that would have be Jose's plan, of course.

And now your making stuff up. Pitt-Brooke has consistently said for over a year and is still saying he doesn't see him leaving, I mean he actually says all this in his piece and in the video!!

I know he has said a few positive things but that seems to be more about him being a professional than liking Jose specifically.
We have heard other players say he doesn't do much in terms of attacking tactics, we see the evidence of that when we play, the results have been complete shit and the atmosphere around the club and fan base is toxic. I fail to see what Kane would find attractive.
I hope in many ways you are right because it would show that Kane doesn't care about winning so would be more likely to stay.

Yes, and I simply don't believe either has strong connections to either Kane or the club. Ornstein has connections to Woolwich and the other guy to Man City. It could be a Man City source pushing the info on Kane to destabilise him. The most telling part of the video was where they plead for new subscribers.

I get the impression that the players Jose picks every week are in love with him, while the other 15 or so can't stand him.
It wouldn't shock me if Kane was in someway involved in discussions prior to Mourinho's appointment too.
I guess I find it hard to believe that Kane can talk about wanting to win and then want to have the guy that had us go out weakly to RB last year, can't beat Zagreb this year, out weakly to Norwich last year, only in the final this year because of the draw and out against the first good team we face in the FA Cup this year all while finishing 6th last year and likely 6th-8th this year. Maybe he buys into the serial winner BS but there is no reason to think that Jose will get him anything close to titles that he wants.
I can't see how anyone, even guys he plays, could like playing for Jose. The team looks so flat out there, with no energy or passion at all. I would think if they loved him and playing for him at least that would be present even if the tacitcs aren't there.
He's a Man City fan, he reports on Spurs, he only writes about Spurs. His sources come from Spurs/Kane's camp.
Ornstein's speciality is to get transfer scoops almost first, his reputation is kinda built on this, it gets destroyed if they are proven to be bullshitting.
Kane 100% wants out. It's funny because the vast majority of fans have been saying this most of the season, use it as a weapon against the Club for not lining their dreams with silverware "Kane will fuck off if he's not blah, blah, blah". Yet when someone (now three separate people with maybe differing sources) confirm what they've been saying they get all in denial about it. Odd.
