Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Anyone who needs evidence of where the power lies need look no further than Zaha.
Are you suggesting we not take DL at his word when he says the player has all the power? Zaha didn't have clubs clamoring for him. We went in with a derisive bid. Remember? And it pissed Parrish off. No one has really gone in hard for him since.

Likewise, clubs aren't clamoring for Kane at the moment which is why it would be wise, perhaps, to take what is offered (within reason) while it is being offered. If he stays can you envision great things for us this season? He's a year older next year with more wear and tear on his body. It makes sense.

the fee would have to be on the high side as who do we replace him with no current top end player would come to us and we would take a punt on a youger guy under the radar but the chances are he would not be a roaring sucess.

“When someone shows you who they are—believe them.”

We need to take off the hero-tinted glasses. Watch the Neville interview (and pay attention to its timing). Listen to him swoon over De Bruyne (and think about likely conversations at the Euros with his teammates). Watch his rounded circles as half-hearted pressing, the amount of times on the pitch last season he looked at the sky in “I’m better than this” frustration. Think about the ham-fisted rumor-mongering by his brother.

It’s been totally clear to me all along that a trophy at City would be half-empty, a win by a team that really doesn’t need him in front of fans with no special love for him. But it also seems equally clear that Harry doesn’t see it that way.
I want to be able to vote for this more than one. Id come terms with his decision last season when he made it plain.

At some point an asset becomes devalued. There is only 1 team bidding so you ain't breaking the bank as demand is low. If RM get Mbappe and City get Haanland then where else is there to go for the player? He ain't going to France. We do not hold "all the cards" as is being suggested. You must sell when the market exists not just when you think your asset is most valuable.

Don't think anyone is suggesting we sell Kane for less than 'he's worth'. But there is always a decent disparity between what Levy values our players for and what the market does. Shall I introduce you to Moussa Sissoko our starting MFer who is still here? Or Eric Dier? Just look at what happened with Eriksen and how he was priced out of a move only for us to receive nothing in terms of performance in return and very little in terms of finances in return. You sell when the market exists for a player and quite often it is one year too early than one year too late. We are always 1 year too late to our detriment but that's probably because this idea of free agency is not really appreciated in European sport.
But if you don't want to sell because you value what Kane brings then you do hold the cards and you can set the price as you wish.

I appreciate what you're saying about markets and pricing but that's your opinion and I don't agree with it. I'm dealing purely with the situation as it is now, not what I think should or should'nt have happened.

City want Kane, Kane wants City but Spurs don't want to sell so will set the transfer fee higher than City value him.
Kane is possibly playing silly buggers as he's not happy with the club's stance.
Spurs won't sell him this summer for anything less than they value him as they're not looking to sell and he can't walk away for 3 years.

That's the situation and Levy is doing the right thing in this situation, the only thing he can in this situation.

You may disagree on when we should sell and for how much but right now that's pretty irrelevant, as is comparing Kane to players like Sis or Dier.

If City aren't willing to pay what Spurs want then he stays (as Spurs want him to) and we go through it all again next year when his price will come down a bit. You might not like the situation but that's it pretty much in a nutshell as far as I can see. Kane will have the hump for a week or two and then get on with it as Modric did because that's his job.

If he wants to leave and City are willing to pay stupid money, then that's something we can grudgingly accept. But as you say, if Kane stays and plays, he will still score the goals because that's what he is, a top player.

Any transfer has to be on our terms, Harry wanting out isn't enough in and of itself. City have to show us the money or fuck off, and we'll keep our world-class number 9, happy or not.

Just as a little thought experiment, where do you draw the line yourself in terms of a fee? What if City say they won't pay more than £100m, would you take it?

For me, the fee has to be something in the region of £150m-£175m, it has to be absolutely extortionate. Goals are the most valuable thing in the game and Kane is coming off the back of a season where he scored the most and made the most in the Premier League. City have to be told to pay up big-time, or fuck off.
Completely agree. This is all a moot point unless they’re going to table a serious offer in the region of 150m. If they think they can unsettle him and try and get him at a cut price they can fuck off, and he can just deal with it.

I can’t imagine levy shaking hands on letting him go at any price when he feels like it. It would have been a case of “if the offer is right for us, you would be allowed to go if that moment came”

There is many things that frustrate me with this Harry Kane saga and the majority of them I'm repeating from my own point of view and other posters.

Harry Kane is a great player, but this 'trophy' situation still really irritates me, he's played in one of the most successful Tottenham teams on the pitch in recent years and couldn't win anything. He's also the player that's had a chance to win 3 major trophies in the last seven years or so (Prem League, Champions League and League cup final x2). Not to mention the numerous Semi Finals we've failed in.

Why don't these players ever think of the fans? I know people will say that they don't care (which is true to a certain extent) but I thought Kane would be different. Does he not want to see this 'When did Tottenham last win a trophy?' banter disappear? Does he not want to win a trophy with Tottenham where he is currently a legend (despite not winning a trophy?). Surely that's more worthwhile then going City who imo are a disgrace of a club and shouldn't be getting away with spending £200+ million on two players potentially.

Another thing is the argument that Tottenham/Levy hasn't backed Harry Kane's ambition. Nonsense. The club has developed massively, new ground/training facilities etc not to mention that Daniel Levy appointed a WORLD CLASS manager in Jose Mourinho who Kane by all accords backed massively. It's a disgrace if Kane downs tools. It's all well and good sticking around with the good times, but when the things have a got abit tough Kane and his brother have decided that they are too good for us now.

I'm not gonna get into the England situation either.
Well said. The players are paid handsomely for playing to the best of their ability in every game and they have to take some responsibility for the outcome of games and finals: the bigger the player, the more responsibility they should bear.
In my mind, this situation is not that different from players who want to leave when relegated.
I know it's petty, but if he goes then I'm glad it's without Greavsie's record and I hope that Shearer keeps the PL record too.
Anyway, I've got more important things to worry about than if a multi millionaire is going on a king sized sulk because he can't get his way, diddums. Is my washing going to dry before it starts to rain and what shall I have for my tea?
I'm done. See you in other threads. :)

Maybe he’s tested positive for COVID?
If he’s simply decided not to come to work he should be fined heavily and told he’s going nowhere unless and until the club decide he can go within the next 3 years.
