Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Disagree. I cant quite accept he would be second to a main forward. He showed last season that he can score goals. Yes, from various positions, thats modern football. He is a centre forward as near as you can imagine . Either with support or he needs to take on less and get support form others from wide and midfield.

He is not a TS type player. He needs a player along side him to do all the around the box stuff that he seems to take responsibility for. A player like Peter Beardsley, a player that would compliment him.

The problem at the moment is, he is doing too much and the support form others are not enhancing he's play. I get the other teams are weary of him and look to nullify him. Thats football, he needs to rise above it and the players around him need to support him. It will come with Kane he just needs to be a little moor economical with his play. He does too much.
I'm pretty sure that he's on record saying that that is the role he would like to play, and to be honest, I suspect that he will do better in that MO, particularly now that he's a defender magnet.
I'd be delighted if he could get back to hitting 30 a season though.

Only really because that is when he started league games.

This time last season he had started FOUR games in all competitions.. Scored in each one of those games too. Already this season he's started 11 games and we're in October. He has scored once.

Yeah I know I'm the optomistic Spurs fan finding the next eventuality that his luck may turn and banging in the goals so this team can start to really click into place. Imagine Kane's 30 odd league goals with Eriksen free kicks and the others chipping in.... 'snore' sorry did I just woke myself up with a snore, I was having this great dream about Spurs having a great season and being optomistic, it's a reoccurring dream I keep having.

I think he is capable of playing well in both of the roles but I agree he is working hard all over the the pitch. You still see Kane tracking back in our half to close down a counter attack, which is great. He also need some time to gel with the other new players that have started in midfield, but Kane is getting the chances, let's hope Son is back soon to give the support he needs.
It would be interesting to see that partnership develop.

with the amount of 'ams', his goalscoring form last season and the lack of strikers in our squad I think its obvious what Poch and spurs want from Harry. Don't get me wrong but I think Eriksen, Son, lamela and co working off him are better for the no 10 type role tbh. He is the only thing resembling a classic no 9 we have and reckon he will become a proper centre forward for us.
Kane and Poch have some serious work to do to get him firing again and making sure he doesn't completely burn out this season, i worry for the kid:-/

I still have every bit of faith in Kane. He will come good.

But the silver lining in his poor scoring record at the moment is that it will make signing a quality striker in January that much easier.

Imo Kane is mainly a CF, and that should be his position. He, the media and the fans needs to realise though that he's not the 30 goal a season superstar. He's not Aguero.

His work all around the pitch makes him hard to play against, a dream to play with, and a very good asset for Spurs both defensively and offensively. He just needs to let go of the desperation to score goals, and focus on being the work horse that makes the job easier for our AMs.

We have a lot of goal scorers in the team. Eriksen and Chadli are proven in PL, Rose has shown his potential, Dier chips in with a couple, Alli is a goal scoring CM, Jan and Toby can score goals, Pritchard scored a bunch in Championship, Son has already started showing us what he can do, Mason showed against Everton that he can make the runs, and he has an impressive history from the youth teams, Lamela scored a ton in Serie A.

We don't need Kane to carry us by scoring all the goals. We need him to play his games, to help the other players get their goals, and then to try to take the chances that will come.

If opponents see that Kane is not our main threat he may find he will geta bit more time and space to score goals.

For now he needs to pass the ball and be a work horse Kane, not Kane the superstar.

Its more of playing like TS rather than positional play. Which for me would suit him.
However, the modern football way would not accommodate TS.
Sorry about the cliche 'at the end of the day' he should play like Harry Kane, evolve from last season into a top forward as we all believe he can be.

Kane for me is best suited down the middle with support either side as we are set up at the moment.
Kanes problem is simple for me, lack of confidence. To compensate he tries too much and is forcing things to happen.
That split second where he needs to make the right decision, his thinking is letting him down. He is a froward and needs to get goals-he has set the bar high for himself. He needs to relax and play on instinct. Most matches, he has got into the right positions and had chances, unfortunately he fluffs em. Instinct is getting him there but his composure is letting him down.

He is not a TS and will never be. No more than Walcott will be a Henry?

Thierry Henry - the well known basketball player?

I think Kane is good enough to play either 9 or 10. He says he prefers 10 though and I suspect that's because he likes space and thinks he'll get more there. He will learn to create more space as he gets used to the tighter marking he's getting; ultimately I think he will end up exploiting defenders for it, but it takes time and what he needs right now more than anything else is confidence and a bit of luck. Hopefully he'll get it against Liverpool. If not we need to be patient as it will happen. No amount of fluke gets you to 30 goals a season. He is the real deal.

Agreed. We just need to find his Klinsmann.

Some great smiley potential here, for Old Spurs
